12. Northwestern (35) – Chris Collins took the Wildcats to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history in 2017. There’s just not much tradition, but the major selling point is the academic component. There’s also no shortage of talent in the area, but the question is whether Northwestern can get the kids into school.

Where they win: “The degree. It’s what you have to sell. The academics and also the city of Chicago.” – Big Ten administrator

The knock: “There are so many other things to do in Chicago on the list. It’s way, way down the list.” – Big Ten assistant

I'd like to know which head coach said "They [Maryland] shouldn’t even be in the league.” I don't disagree, but damn!

over time, playing in the new arena will be a major selling point. Not sure how loud the place gets but we will find out soon.

This is one of the stupidest things I've ever read.

The better the academics, according to how the poll was constructed, the worse the school is as a coaching destination. But, NU's strongest selling point to bb recruits is its academics.

And, those polled think that NU's recruiting base is third best in the Big Ten because of Chicago, even though 80 percent of that is eliminated by the high academics.

The one thing this poll got right is that Pat Chambers has a very difficult job.
