IU must be playing a good team again, because they look bad so far. Their QB looks totally rattled. It’s early, but they need to settle down quickly.

While shiny gold is a bit of a ND trademark, tonight’s unis look rather chintzy to me.

Separately, does Heard get much PT? And what of our other DB who got the great pick in the BT Championship game back in 2020. What ever became of him?

Those who said IU didn't belong in the CFP appear to have been right. IU lucky to only be down 2 TDs at the half.

Rod Heard II has been playing Safety as a back-up tonight. No impact plays as yet.

Yeah, Indiana’s turnaround season has been impressive, but they’re a very good, not great team. They’ve been totally shut down by the 2 top 10 teams they’ve played. They had a fairly weak SOS but many many IU teams in the last several decades have had weak SOS and were unable to beat 11 teams, many of them by multiple TDs.

Indiana's tackling has been atrocious but ND has had a say in that as well. The announcer said Rourke has been off and I agree with that. ND has several physical beasts sprinkled throughout their team, particularly on the DL, that Indiana just cannot match.

Watching Leonard continually break the rush with his legs I wonder why Lausch wasn't more active.

I didn’t watch much IU this year but this game was just awful, nothing like the aggressive offense I thought they had. Running on 2nd and long when time was a factor, not going for it on 4th down when they needed 3 scores in 10 minutes, seemingly no adjustment to try to get some quick passes or roll Rourke our to avoid pressure. Just a really bad gameplan on offense and horrendous tackling on defense that just kept extending drives allowing first down after first down.

I am quite happy smug Cig got knocked down a peg. I am even happier they missed the two pint conversion.
I turned it off after the last ND TD. Quite a furious rally by IU - to your point, if they’d made that 2 point conversion, incredibly it would’ve been a one possession game with enough time for an onside kick and a couple pass play to set up a Hail Mary.

Brandon Joseph. He's on the Detroit Lions roster but hasn't played much. At least he's getting a NFL paycheck.

Worse yet, they would have sunk my ND -8.5 bet that I spent 30 minutes earlier.

Lots of B1G trashing late in the broadcast.

But the era of 18 (?) team conferences means that there will be lucky, powerhouse-dodging teams every year.

(A quick glance at Tennessee’s schedule shows wins over 5 of the bottom 7 teams in the SEC, and a loss to bottom-feeder Arkansas. I think Alabama is their only currently-ranked win. Their best non-conference win was 6-6 NC State.)

I wish yesterday’s game had been interesting. 🤞 for good games today.

Bring on promotion and relegation in the mega-conferences!

Tennessee the Indiana of the SEC .

Indiana and SMU both deserved to be in this tournament. In a 12 team tournament, the 10 and 11 seeds often get waxed, that doesn't mean they didn't earn their spots. And quite frankly I think both ND and PSU would also have smoked Alabama if they'd been given a spot.

I thought the new CFP was great, bringing more competitive games. After 2 games, maybe the right answer is 8 teams not 12......
The lower seed having to play a road game makes it a tougher task to pull an upset. That is different from prior CFP years. How many 16 seed upsets would have still happened if the my had to go to the 1 seed home court!

Looking like another blow out for the home team. This isn’t really that entertaining at all.

The CFP is too large by at least 4 teams, probably by 6, I’m unlikely to be co vin Ed otherwise, and this weekend has certainly only made me more certain of that

Man I can’t stand OSU but when the SEC mouth breathers try to trash our league it’s so sweet to see them trounce Tennessee.
Ohio State even trashed the SEC in *basketball* yesterday.

(Though Auburn returned the favor and destroyed Purdue).

Should have been a 6 team playoff

Top two get byes. Next four play in to get to the semi’s. All games on campus at higher seed.

Six was the right number. Regular season still has tremendous value and other bowls maintain a little bit of value.

It was never about a 10th or 12th ranked team winning it all… the winner will be Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia, or Texas A 12 team playoff is asinine. Eight at the most, but six was ideal. 12 jumped the shark in the name of $$$$$

While I am at it, conference championship games need to go away. Regular season champions get the automatic bid. Eliminating conference championship games would get rid of a Clemson situation where a team backdoors into the playoff and would also get rid of a situation where teams like Texas and UGA could play a 3rd time.

Yep, my school didn’t fare well Friday night. Fun, great year that didn’t see coming. Luckily I did not fork out the $500 to freeze while tailgating all day, then at game. One of my sons did though and had a great experience with many of his friends, other than the game result.

Rourke giving the momentum right back on the pick into double coverage at the 2, right after IU picked off Leonard was a buzz kill. Then immediately followed by the worse blow, the 98 yard TD run. After that, the D wasn’t bad, having to stay out there all night cuz the O did nothing.

Will be interesting to see if and when they expand this thing to 14, or even 16 teams? After the first 4 games, where other than maybe Clemson for a half, was competitive, I don’t see a compelling argument to do so anytime soon.

Oh, and in IU Portal News, back-up QB Tayven Jackson did jump in yesterday. Good arm, good wheels, but a bit mechanical. The word is not a good reader of coverage or adept enough in RPO reads. Should have 2 years left. No inside info, but some think might follow the QB coach, who just got the UCLA OC gig. I think more like Sun Belt, or AAC would be a better fit for a PT in his next stop. Hoping the Mendoza buzz to IU will be accurate.

Why did they set it up so OSU would face Oregon in the quarterfinals? Two teams from the same conference who had already played? Maybe unavoidable since we had 4 teams, I didn’t figure out the math. Although IU hadn’t played Oregon or PSU this year.

I have always been on the 6 team bandwagon, but it’s never been even a small possibility. So much money was made last weekend. But it would be the best by far.

Genuinely great season by you guys though. Kicking off the playoff era in Indiana.

The problem is giving conference champs the bye. Clemson shouldn’t have been in. ASU and Boise shouldn’t have gotten a bye. The whole way they seeded created mismatches. If PSU, Texas or ND got the bye instead we would have had competitive games. It even messes up the next round too.
