I was his pledge trainer. I claim all the credit.Great interview. Revsine is really good at his job.
He does seem a little jumpy when I have met him in person. Nothing a little therapy can’t resolve.I was his pledge trainer. I claim all the credit.
Try whispering “Thank you sir. May I have another?” in his ear, and then watch his reaction. He does seem a little jumpy when I have met him in person. Nothing a little therapy can’t resolve.
Given how high Chris Collins is on Tre Singleton, it wouldn’t be surprising if Northwestern’s 2025–26 starting lineup looks like this:
Collins clearly likes Singleton’s length and potential versatility, and keeping Martinelli at the 4 maximizes his inside-out scoring ability. Reid’s quickness and feel for the game should help control the tempo, while Windham brings needed shooting and the potential for strong perimeter defense. The expectation is that Northwestern will land a veteran transfer big man to anchor the paint and provide rim protection. If the pieces fit, this group has a real chance to be competitive. Martinelli, in particular, could be poised for a very big season.
- Point Guard: Jayden Reid
- Shooting Guard: K.J. Windham
- Small Forward: Tre Singleton
- Power Forward: Nick Martinelli
- Center: Transfer Big
Big question on KJ’s defense hangs out there (I see you used “potential”).Given how high Chris Collins is on Tre Singleton, it wouldn’t be surprising if Northwestern’s 2025–26 starting lineup looks like this:

KJ definitely improved on that end as the season went on. I don’t think he got to being a plus defender yet, but he was a freshman and defense usually takes time. With a full year in the system under his belt, I think he’ll take another step. He’s quick enough and flashed some good hands. He could absolutely develop into a very strong perimeter defender. I’d be expecting at minimum, average defense from him next year, and the upside is there for more.Big question on KJ’s defense hangs out there (I see you used “potential”).
Bench:What does the rest of your rotation look like? Will CCC go 8 deep?
Don't forget Ciaravino. Collins mentions him in the Revsine interview. He showed flashes before hitting the freshman wall. He can shoot a bit and seems like a willing defender. I can certainly see him giving 10-15 strong minutes a game next season.Bench:
That's 8. Another transfer addition is likely, which would give Collins a trusted veteran off the bench, or push one of my projected starters back, instead of relying heavily on another freshman right away. Jake West, Phoenix Gill, and Tyler Kropp could all push for spot minutes. If one of them is ready to contribute early, we could definitely see a 9-man rotation. Kropp especially might carve out a role if Collins wants a small-ball look, particularly if Bennerman isn’t ready to take on a lot of minutes right away. A lot of minutes available at the 5 at the moment.
- Mullins (backup guard/wing, defensive versatility)
- Transfer Guard/Forward (veteran depth)
- Bennerman (backup big, minutes depending on how ready he is)
I wonder if Wyndham and Reid’s roles are reversed in the lineup. I think Wyndham is a very good ball handler who can create off the dribble. Reid’s tape shows a very good ability to come off curls and screens and catch and shoot.Given how high Chris Collins is on Tre Singleton, it wouldn’t be surprising if Northwestern’s 2025–26 starting lineup looks like this:

That was brain fart on my end. 2nd best athlete. Longer way to go than KJ. Could push for min depending on development. Especially over freshmen.Don't forget Ciaravino. Honestly I think both will run the offense at times. I don’t disagree with anything you said.I wonder if Wyndham and Reid’s roles are reversed in the lineup. I think Wyndham is a very good ball handler who can create off the dribble. Reid’s tape shows a very good ability to come off curls and screens and catch and shoot.
But the bigger picture is that we have two guards who can bring the ball up and run the offense. And Clayton seems to be improving in that area. I feel much better about our guard situation.
In my opinion you can never have too many good ballhandlers. In past seasons I'd say we could've used more; this next season it should be our strength when you add in the frosh West and Gill.Honestly I think both will run the offense at times. I don’t disagree with anything you said.
A lot of chatter about Barnhizer getting another year……In my opinion you can never have too many good ballhandlers. In past seasons I'd say we could've used more; this next season it should be our strength when you add in the frosh West and Gill.
For us….???A lot of chatter about Barnhizer getting another year……
No idea. Would find it hard to believe he would leave his best bud Martinelli? Is Martinelli locked in for sure? All of these Purdue fans on X seem to think he is going there. Seems the NUBballGuru doesn’t know much about this? But a team with Martinelli and Barnhizer (two first team big ten players) could be a sweet 16 team. For us….???
This would really surprise me. I would expect KJ and Mart. I would expect the second guard and primary backup to be open competition between the frosh, Reid and Clayton. I expect Mullins, Gelo and maybe smith to compete for the other starting G/F with relevant frosh. I works be stunned if singleton is handed a starting role. More expect to see Barney / Mart type role of the bench and see what he has. Historically, frosh lose their legs per early in B1G conference play.Given how high Chris Collins is on Tre Singleton, it wouldn’t be surprising if Northwestern’s 2025–26 starting lineup looks like this:

I think you are going to see a lot of Ciravino, Windham, and Singleton. Also let’s not forget Phoenix Gill who is Kendall Gill’s son. He was Allstate first team on just about every team I saw.Posting in a vacuum of summer/fall information, I think Collins needs to feed Angelo into the grinder for the non-conference season and try force growing him into an experienced, confident junior.
This incoming class has me really pumped for next year. I can't wait to see what they bring.I think you are going to see a lot of Ciravino, Windham, and Singleton. Also let’s not forget Phoenix Gill who is Kendall Gill’s son. He was Allstate first team on just about every team I saw.
He was my pick for last year. Showed some good signs but not as many as I had thought he might. Hope you are right! My money is on Mullins as 'most improved' next year. Going to be hard to keep him out of starting lineup. Either way, excited to see the competition to get on the floor among this group - particularly with this freshman class.
I hope you are correct. He really needs to improve his outside shooting. Saw some glimpses this season. My money is on Mullins as 'most improved' next year. I think he will flash some too. Similar role to KJ last year prior to Leach injury,I don't think Jake West has the strength yet to be a starter. He probably needs a year for that. But 1) he can play and 2) great energy. I see him giving us some very productive minutes next year. And honestly, if we get someone capable of 10-12 positive minutes off the bench, that would be fantastic.
Yes. Won't start, but you'll know he's there. In a good way.I think he will flash some too. Similar role to KJ last year prior to Leach injury,
Back to Revsine, he was super friendly and nice when I was chatting with him and walking to a bar after the first NU NCAA tournament win in Salt Lake. Maybe he was more chill since was just there as a fan have a great time.
My wife and I had a great time talking to him at the class of 89 reunion event after the Cats squeaked out the OT win against EIU.He's a nice guy. He was generous with his time back when I did WNUR, even came and spoke to us as a group.
About 20 576 Lincoln/NU Alums were in the 3rd thru 5th rows at the 5 yard line for that play at Nebraska. Ugh.My wife and I had a great time talking to him at the class of 89 reunion event after the Cats squeaked out the OT win against EIU.
He recounted being speechless in the studio after the Jordan Westerkamp Hail Mary. I just about threw myself out of the window after that one.
