Like I have stated previously many times during the season, this collapse of the program is unprecedented in all my years of following NCAA football. Any collapses were due to sanctions or suspensions handed down by the NCAA.

Things are pretty bad in Palo Alto. Arguably much worse than they are here given that they’ve seen the promised land and have won the Rose Bowl multiple times. If Shaw gets fired, that would indicate a massive shift among the academic power houses.

Duke and Vanderbilt have already done it and have seen immediate results. If Stanford fires Shaw, NU will be on the outs by clinging to a long-tenured coach who has lost his luster and we’ll be lagging way behind our peers.

Also in Boulder. Colorado is a program that shared a lot of the same coaching tree with NU until Hankwitz retired. They have fallen as far as we have.

there is nothing in program to indicate that the next 2 years won't be a repeat of this year.
Next year's team will be worse. May not go 0-12 because Howard is basically a D3 team, but Puke is still better than us, UTEP better than Miami Hydroxide, and no Scott Frost to sh1t the bed.

NU is losing all of its playmakers. Why would we be better?

Unless, hypothetically, something changes...

David Shaw has stepped down.
