From an ESPN story about the first week of the college football season being 100 days away and some of the great games that first day/weekend.

The story goes on to talk about the past and how top teams played other tough games against top opponents.

"Back in the day, teams had no compunction about tough openers. Alabama and Georgia opened against each other for seven seasons beginning in 1959. Oklahoma, which dominated the sport in the '50s, opened against teams such as Notre Dame, Cal, North Carolina, Pitt and Northwestern. In the 1960s, Texas opened against Nebraska, Oregon, USC and Cal."

Not to mention NU taking Oklahoma to the woodshed 24-0 in 1997......

Even better than being mentioned, NU beat OU in the two referenced games (45-13 in 1959 and 19-3 in 1960).

Yes and those were the Ara years! He also never lost to TSISB while at NU. If NU had not lost him, the "dark ages" wouldn't have happened.

Agasse was a pretty good coach as well. Have to say that the Dark Ages would not have occurred but for Strotz and Pont. Without Strotz, Agasse would likely not have left. They did a number on the program
