Anywhere but the Rant Board
The staff is cleaning up in Illinois. Reminds me of 2014 class. Best DL man, top SB's, and maybe the 2 best big uglies. All look like fine prospects. Sure we missed out on Micah, but still seem to be in it for the cherry on top of the cake, DB Greg Newsome! Let's get Greg on his visit in a couple weeks. New verbals you got a job to do!

Three alleged gurus all taking us, but more important than that is that LouV thinks. he will be a Cat,, so he will be a Cat
Nice, that would be an excellent instate haul for us. And a kick to the nuts for iLL....

Still wouldn't be shocked if we get another shot at Jones.

I'd like to see us make a run at Sanborn. No reason an academic minded LB out of IL shouldn't be playing for Fitz.

We've offered and are actively recruiting him. He just seems somewhat more interested in schools like Iowa, Wisconsin, etc. NU isn't necessarily everyone's cup of tea.

I am going to completely change the subject for a moment, but what the hell the thread is about recruiting. I looked at the ESPN recruiting rankings, which I do not take very seriously at all, and they have Wyatt Blake Ranked as the number two player in the state of Illinois, if I am reading it correctly, behind only Jones and ahead of O'Rourke. The point is that, regardless of what you think about the various recruiting rankings, I think we got a real winner with Blake.

Anyway you look at it we are having a fantastic year recruiting the state of Illinois.

That April Fool's weekend is shaping up to be a big recruiting weekend for NU. In addition to Newsome, TX LB Greyson Mann and Ohio DL Jevon Henderson are also scheduled for overnight visits to NU. I am sure others will be there as well. Let's hope the joke will be on the rest of our Big Ten foes when they see that NU is shaping up to bring in another powerhouse recruiting class for 2018.

And our last big recruiting weekend was a grand slam, Schmidt, Blake, O'Rourke, Kaiser and still maybe Sykes, so let's do it again

I dont expect Kelly to make it past this year. Just too abrasive to some of the powers to be. Can't have more than 2 losses with a bowl win if he stays IMO. Seems like some of the other highly recruited studs turned the tide in ND's favor. The class starts falling apart after another sub par year and you could be right.

I think we have a legitimate shot at all 3. What is the deal with Henderson? No other offers? He is Sykes all over again? It's not like Henderson is from some far away outpost that would limit his exposure. After watching the tape of these two, it sure seems odd they aren't attracting a little more interest.

Henderson has at least 4-5 other offers from Cinci and MAC teams but I think your comparison to Sykes in terms of talent and current level of under recruitment is appropriate. Not sure what the deal is but in my opinion both those guys should have double digit offers with a healthy dose of P5 schools involved. NU is very good at identifing talent early and let's hope they close the deal before others get wise on these two. I wonder if we have room for both? I do think we are limited to 3-4 DL in this class and I would like one of those spots to be taken up by a speed rush specialist along the lines of Leota or Umerah.

Recruiting in general. If these guys were from all over the country we would be excited about them, but winning the in state battle is gratifying for rivalry and pride issues. Nobody knows us better than kids from Illinois and they are choosing NU.

OT
Should that comma come after "but" or before "but" or is no comma needed there at all? We haven't had a good lesson in a while and my Northwestern education needs to keep progressing.

Leave your comma exactly where it is. It separates two complete sentences. Glad to see you are so concerned about it.

Speaking of commas, who knew commas could be such a big deal.

Reminds me of the old line about do you know the difference between a cat and a comma?

One has claws at the end of its paws, and the other is a pause at the end of a clause.

Evan Stewart as well, I believe.

I think this will come down to two teams--NU and ND. Hopefully he picks the former even if the latter offers

Would guess he's hinting at trimming his list instead of a commit, but either would seem good news for NU:

Sounds like good news all right, aren't we still expecting him to visit Michigan State on Saturday?
