Gronowski to Iowa

We have our QB and Iowa is not on our schedule next year, so it will be interesting to watch what happens to Iowa. Will Sullivan transfer to get playing time at some G5 program?

Wow, maybe they’ll throw for more than 200 yards per game for the first time since 2019.

But I doubt it.

If he sticks around, he can probably start in another bowl game.

Sullivan was quoted well before any Gronowski talk saying he was not shying away from competition or something like that - assuming this meant he expected some transfer WB to come in. Maybe he thinks he’s better. Maybe he’s fine playing a backup or running QB package role at Iowa, maybe he knows he’s injury prone and would not likely last the whole season as a starter anyway, at least not the way he likes to run.

Sullivan runs from competition - as we saw with us. I’d be shocked if he doesn’t bail on Iowa.

This is going to be a legitimate test of the “do the QBs suck or is Iowa constitutionally incapable of using them” theory

I still find it odd that Gronowski didn’t seem interested in reconnecting with Lujan by coming to NU. Should that tell us something about Lujan? Or was Gronowski still undecided about entering the portal when Stone became available? I suppose we’ll never know.

His history of injuries and his performance in the bowl game will make him not so popular in Iowa. He will most likely be on the bench unless he gets lucky and Gronowski gets injured. He should probably move on to maybe a MAC or lower division school if he wants to get playing time.

They brought in Hank brown too another transfer QB from auburn. He would have to beat him out to even be the back up

We signed Stone who has proven he can play at this level. Lujan has a stud QB now let’s see what he can do.

Too late.

I was in the stands when Iowa fans cheered Sullivan replacing McNamara. Tried warning them, they wouldn’t listen.

A few other possibilities come to my mind. They may have been effective co-workers but perhaps not pals. He may have preferred the Iowa academic workload to NU's, or he may have preferred a more consistent winner than our rebuild.

I agree. A player like him is thinking past graduate studies which I imagine are fairly demanding at NU. Besides that, NU picked up a prized QB already.

Iowa’s QBs got pretty beat up last season.

Their OL or OC are high risk.

Hopefully they stay healthy. But Sully will probably get PT again at Iowa

Or the staff wanted Stone.

Or he was just too late to enter the portal and NU had already taken Stone.

He’s a very good student. NU’s academic workload didn’t scare him off.

I’m thinking Sullivan was more pissed at being thought of as lesser than Lausch and might not be as offended with having to compete with and play behind Grownowski, but that’s just speculation
