Glad to see a gutsy win, pounding a “better” Rival squad. Five straight hats. Two consecutive senior classes that never lost to Illinois. Sweet. Fun celebrating on their field, in their empty stadium.
Marty made some mistakes but he managed the offense pretty well. That frosh RB from TX looked the part. Defense looked like the old D.
Team seemed like they’d given up a few times this year, but not today. Good.
Our PK should not have that job. Yikes.
But overall, let’s not lose sight of the unacceptability of this dreadful season. (3-9, 1-8) is disgraceful coming off a division crown. I know there was some adversity with injuries, but that’s not an excuse for how this year went. OL and WR need massive improvements & the person responsible for our chronically terrible offense should not be rewarded with another season wearing the headset.
Happy to have this little glimmer in rivalry week, but this season was a failure. Up to the head coach to “respond.”
