I think Tarantino wrote the script. But the movie was directed by Tony Scott. Might have been his best work, in an, otherwise, meh career. Cast is incredible.
Yeah, Tarantino didn't direct, but it just *feels* like he had something to do with the casting. Walken, Hopper, Kilmer, Samuel L. Jackson (blink and you miss him), pre-fame Gandolfini, Oldman, Pitt (possibly my favorite performance of his), Chris Penn, Tom Sizemore, and many more.
You are right, I probably mid-spoke giving Tarantino credit.
All in supporting roles to boot. Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette’s best work.
The Walker/Hopper scene is incredible. Oldman as Drexel Spivey is awesome.
