This isnt a flame, after carefully watching some michigan highlights i can findno evidence for suggesting that michigam will be able to score a td of any sort unless a turnover is involved. Ive been incredibly accurate on the wins and pointspreads all year. Last week i figured nu 27-7 over minny as i tried to build in a turnover by Nu to push minny into the endzone.
Michigan is a bit better than minny and we have to be careful but ill give them a td thru turnover and a first half fg and a second half fg. That will give them a generous spot of 13 pts. We should hit 24.
If we play turnover free ball then all the models im using predict a shutout.
Whats the fuss?

How can you carefully watch something when you don't have much of a clue at all what it is you're actually looking at?

Whatever it is that ive been looking at seems to be fairly clear to me and has enabled me to rightfully assess the games with a very high level of predictability. Including the pointspreads, and the actual point totals for the entire season. Its been a very objective assessment with no purple aid.

I know your expert guess was a close game last week so im unsure of what you based that on but it was sufficiently inaccurate.

Im not claiming any absoluteness but its been a fairly easy and accurate exercise.

Go cats!

He is on a roll. Actually they are the big deal because of back to back shutouts. Our D is capable of pitching another shutout and their O is limited. A shutout would be special. Unlikely but possible and it would shut them up.

Turk,
Your prediction is bold and belongs right here on a fan board. I will give you this, if our Dline and bring pressure and hurry the QB, put some good wacks on him early to get into his head, I think the secondary can do the rest.

I love a shutout! Nothing says, "we are better than you." better than a shutout.

Your response makes zero sense. "Whatever I've been looking at seems fairly clear to me". So if I read this correctly, in that sentence you admit that you don't in fact know what you're looking at, and even though you don't, it makes sense to you enough to where it's completely evident to you?

Seems to me you're just throwing shit at a wall to see what sticks. That's just me though

Yes, completely evident to me, and proved with results.
This morning i looked at michigan. They have clear and present deficiencies on offense. Im not saying my predictions are 100% proofs but i am honestly struggling with the idea that their offense will be capable given what is clearly known about our defense.

We still have to play the game but i just dont see any evidence that michigan is anything more than a good team. Odd how our fans here are thinking michigan is going to win.

No I'm giving him crap because he analyzed game film like a coach even though he, like most of us, has no idea what he's really looking at and then starts speaking as if he does. It's annoying AF

You literally offered zero insight into why Michigan has offensive deficiencies. I'm not saying you're wrong or right, I'm saying you don't know what you're looking at. If GCG2003 said that, it'd hold some credence.

I'd say their first half against Maryland indicates they have some offensive deficiencies. Maryland gave up 48 points to Bowling Green and 45 points to West Virginia. And with the stout Michigan defense, you'd assume that Maryland's defense was getting pretty tired.

That, and the 3 touchdown drives (the rest of the points were 2 FGs and a 2-point conversion) weren't all that impressive:

3 plays, 31 yards, 0:19
1 play, 66 yards, 0:11
4 plays, 24 yards, 1:58

I didn't watch the game but it looks like one big run and two extremely short fields allowed them to score those points.

Jeeze your stuff is ridiculous. Turk has been pretty much on the nose all season. Michigan's offense sucks, and we will beat them 17 - 7.

Sorry if my post offend you but i honestly dont have any idea what on earth you are talking about.
I dont think i misrepresented anything nor do i watch game film. But predictabilities arent weighted heavily on game film. Game film is great for game plans and tendencies but im not sure i follow your insistence that game film is needed???

What i have offered is my opinion, prior to every game. And im sure your opinion prior to a game has equal validity even if its in total disagreement to mine.

But your ongoing barbie tantrum regarding my opinion is silly indeed.

Those 7 points will come on a field goal and two safeties. One will be a highly questionable intentional grounding from the endzone and make fans livid.

You might be right! I hate to give up the 2 sateties, but I like your thinking.

I've had every game right but Ball State, which cost me. My only concern is how Thorson plays in the big house. First time there and it's going a huge difference between there and the Duke game. I think Fitz will impress upon him very strongly that he make no unsure throws. I'd like to see McCall start him off quickly throwing short easy tosses to get him confidence and into a ryhthm right off the bat. We have to give M what they don't think will happen and that is s pass first offense. Then JJ and the boys can take care of business later.

Thorson had to have more butterflies for his first big ten game than for any ooc game, thus, he performed very efficient under those conditions. Equally impressive has been the inexplicable emergence of our OL in both run and pass blocking. Minny had a good D but we kept them off thorson for most of the game. Thorson has come a long way since stanford and it is really great to watch.

Our defense is the best in the nation and we may just end up with the best qb as well...given more time.

What happened to the Problem with Fitz? Problem solved?

Note that our starting tailback (De'Veon Smith) didn't play against Maryland due to an ankle injury. His ankle is doing better and he is expected to return Saturday.

Also, weather conditions Saturday should be a lot better than they were in Maryland, where it was damp and very windy.

Excellent news. Should favor us.

No. A FG, a safety on the aforementioned grounding call, and a blocked PAT that Jabrill Peppers takes back 90 yards, and then strikes a Heisman pose and pulls a hammy.

Reading here how M's offense supposedly sucks is interesting.

M's total offense is ranked 77th, Northwestern's is at 79.

Rudock is not going to get any votes for any hardware, but he won't be asked/expected to win the game on his own. Glad to have him aboard for his experience and given the alternatives.

Should be a good game.

I'm also reading how disrespectful Michigan fans are yet Cats' supporters here are doing an outstanding job of hiding their respect for Michigan. ;)

You have a great team, and I wish your club the very best, starting Oct. 11.

I tend to agree with you, although I also feel like what we've been watching so far this year has been an illusion--that in reality this team is no better than it has been for the past two years, and this will soon be exposed, most likely by the dreaded Michigan. But by God, what we've seen so far from this defense has been nothing short of astounding. If they keep it going, they will win out. So now, the only thing that keeps me from believing you is that you also think the Earth is flat.

Just about perfect but you left out the throat slash that gets him called for a penalty.

That is true and your offense does suck. Ours sucks as well. A 7-6 score should not surprise anyone. However, our offense did seem to show some life against Minny. It appears the game has started to slow down for our QB and his throws are getting better, but basically, our offense suck, and Michigan is in the same boat.

This has low scoring written all over it and the team that can limit mistakes can end up with the win. Yes, we can end up shutting down the Michigan offense. They could shut down ours too. I think the difference is that we have played some really talented defenses already, and we should not see anything much different Saturday. I don't think Michigan has played a defense like ours yet. The best defense they seen was Utah and that caused the Michigan offense to make mistakes. It will be interesting to see which side feels the pressure.

I don't think Northwestern has faced a defense as good as Michigan's.

The D has given up 210 yards - total - the past two games.

This is a very different Michigan team than last season, better in every single facet than the 2014 team.

An earlier post said Michigan is a little bit better than Minny.

That is not correct. Michigan is a lot better than Minnesota.

My worry is that there could be more defensive TDs then offensive TDs I'm this game. I agree with Fitz that are No. 1 offensive priority is to take care of the ball. We can't let their defense score.

Stanford and Duke D's are decent. One thing is for damn sure. Michigan has not faced a defense as good as Northwestern's. Michigan's D has given up 210 yards and pitched a couple shutouts in the last couple games, but who exactly have they played.

This is a very different Northwestern team than last season, better in every single facet than the 2014 team.

An earlier post said Michigan is a lot better than Minnesota. It doesn't matter. That's like saying who is the tallest midget.

I agree. Based on my observation, michigan will be the toughest defense we face all season. I believe it is distinctly better than minny.
The minny defense wasnt bad but they got gassed.

As an aside, over the past 7 quarters, our qb has 5 td, over 350 passing yards and a qb rating of over 100. I know its a small sample but our qb trend has been plenty upward since early on and his passes have been almost all spot on.

I know its a common argument that a team has been playing vanilla because the coaches knew they could win that way, but there are hints that UM has been doing just that these past few weeks. I would guess that NW will see the multiple looks that JH's Stanford teams were known for and just might see a certain defensive play maker on O this week.

Durkin will make him throw. UM has been playing man coverage and that won't stop this week. It will be up to Thorson to beat UM I believe. Jackson will face a loaded box.
