Win that game, we're 2-1 with the tiebreaker over Iowa and our own destiny solidly in hand.

Lose that game, we're 1-2, two games out, and losing the tiebreaker to Iowa. We'd effectively be eliminated, needing to make up 3 games on Iowa in 6 weeks.

That doesn't mean we're guaranteed anything if we beat Iowa, nor does it mean that we can't still go to a very nice bowl game if we lose. But if we want to reassert ourselves as contenders, this is the game.

Agree. NU played the Michigan game with house money. Gotta take care of business with the West teams starting with Iowa. I like NU playing as an underdog on Homecoming, celebrating the 1995 team reunion.

All week I was thinking that this Michigan team scared me and that, if we had to lose a game, this would be the one. Today sucked, but we still control our destiny in the B1G west. Every game left on our schedule is winnable, and there simply aren't the dominant teams (ourselves included) in the west that you see in the east.

Also, Iowa hasn't beaten us at home since 2007. They're a decent team, but nothing like what we saw today. Home game against Iowa - I like our chances.

I don't think our players will need any motivation for this game.

Iowa is seeking a 1985 reunion of sorts ... 7-0 revisited, when they faced @ Northwestern in seventh game.
