Looks like JJTBC and Godwin are out

Looked like an opportunity for JJ. I don't know anything about the Lions' RBs but I doubt all 3 are better than JJ.

Losers make losing decisions! Good luck in avoiding that franchise, JJTBC and Godwin.

Unfortunately, Hance got cut in Cleveland too, but then signed off waivers by the 49ers.

JJTBC has been re-signed by the Lions and will be on the practice squad.
Could still be the best RB on this team.

When JJ first showed up at NU he was asked where he thought he would be on the depth chart and he responded something like, "I'll let my play speak for itself."

Every time I watch Justin Jackson play in the NFL, he looks like an above average running back.

I don't get it. His career numbers are quite good.

He's gotten hurt a lot, so the only thing I can think of is he's not considered durable. That shouldn't be THAT much of a concern if you're talking about a third-string running back, but I guess there are cheaper options that are more likely to be healthy.

Conspiracy theory: is it because of his outspoken hardcore left politics?

Are teams scared of another Kaepernick situation?

I don't really know Justin Jackson's politics - I just know "the man" (in this case the NFL) doesn't like "smart guys."

He should be on an NFL roster, based on his performance in several years of NFL games.

Beyond that, I'm just wondering why he isn't.

NFL running backs have short, short careers. JJTBC carried it a ton at NU. He’s already got a fair amount of mileage.

I would imagine that very few people are aware of his politics. DSA is a growing but still-fringe part of the mainstream.

But, JJTBC gifted us this last season:

I don't follow this "political athletes" stuff closely at all, because everybody has a right to their own political ideology, even if I disagree...

Justin Jackson: ‘I don’t like to talk out of my ass, so I knew I had to get more knowledgeable on these issues.’ (saying that in 2016 he was un-informed politically compared to most other players in the Northwestern locker room)

this article shed some light for me...

Those sorts of opinions are "probably" going to get you blackballed. Not saying it is warranted, just that its probably going to happen.

NFL teams don't carry third-string RBs with lots of wear who also can't stay on the field due to injuries. He's played adequately . . . when he's played. Most NFL careers are short, and RBs are especially inexpensive for teams to carry because they're so young and not usually drafted high. Look at the top teams and you won't normally find top RBs.

Per this site the average career for an NFL running back is 2.57 yrs. Justin has four NFL seasons under his belt.
