Starting to feel like that 35-0 thrashing of Wisconsin in '95. Well, without the seven Wisconsin turnovers. The Cats are just dominating both sides of the ball in the 2nd half. Best half of football I've seen us play since...I can't even remember.

The ESPN highlights just had the stat that today's win was NU's first shutout of a conference opponent since 1995. That would be the 35-0 victory over Wisconsin that you mentioned, so definitely a connection today with that game.

The question is, will the parallels to 1995 continue with a solid victory in Ann Arbor against a tough Michigan team? Stay tuned.....

I'd love to hear a MR's opinion on what it means for a defense to get a shutout - even when the game is well in hand and the only remaining goal is to keep the opposition out of the end zone. If I recall in the Wisconsin game, they had the ball inside the five at the end, but it was very clear that they wanted that shutout bad. Was MR on the field there at the end of that game?

It's fun if you get it, but not too important. I was not in as all our reserves were playing most of the 4th quarter and generally kicking the Wisky starters' butts.

I remember CB Chris Rooney absolutely throttling Wisky's running back on the game's final play to preserve the shutout. It was a thing of beauty and a perfect and fitting end to the game.

I was back at NU a few weeks ago at an event where Chris gave a brief speech. The introduction of him had that video highlight with his big hit at the end of the game. Pretty cool, especially as it helped preserve the last NU conference shutout until today.

I could not see the play in the northwest corner. I just remember the roar of the fans and knew the shutout was intact.
