New recruits -lack of comments

I’m surprised there’ve been no comments about Farrell and Karlaftis. Two great portal transfers who should really help.
We need a big ten quarterback. Otherwise we will 4-8 or worse and both Braun & Lujan will be fired for a big name like Brady Hoke or RiChRod to see season tickets when we don’t play Michigan or @buckeyecharlie1 at home

It’s a bit odd; I know they’re trying to steer traffic to the Rock. I was a member for years but have just been cutting back on subscriptions to save $. To be honest there was just not a ton of inside info for the subscription, it sadly seems like overall traffic is down on here more than usual. And I’ve been basically checking this board (and its prior incarnations) daily for like 25 years. Maybe it’s a generational thing? Younger fans don’t use message boards?

Karlaftis and Farrell have been posted on X and Facebook so it should be fair game to repost on the free board.

Worth every penny

Usually the news breaks first on The Rock and discussions naturally occur immediately. Then the free board starts discussions, but a lot of them are a rehash of what’s already discussed on The Rock. So a lot of premium subscribers aren’t inclined to repeat everything again, but generally not out of some intentional exclusivity. So it is a shame that some of the discussions are less thorough on both boards.

To be honest, I felt that the early breaking info and insider discussion was not enough for my expectations but everyone can make an individual call on its value. I’d encourage others to try it as they often have promotional rates, and see for yourself.

I look at my subscription on the Rock as supporting a meeting place for NU sports enthusiasts. Some take advantage of the free aspects for their own reasons and I am cool with that. But I doubt Rivals and the gang are getting wealthy so to the extent others choose to help the cause with a subscription that's a good thing.

I also look at it as a way to support the efforts of Lou, Matt, and MFitz for all they do. I understand they are not looking to get rich and it is mostly a labor of love, but every little bit helps. All those articles and interviews take a lot of time and effort.

It’s critical we support @mshelton33 as he is the future of Wildcat Report.

For a labor of love it is amazing how talented the group is. They are superb sports writers and analysts. Now if they could just get NU FB to open up some more.

Couldn’t agree more. Their timeless work far outweighs having to deal with @CappyNU as a moderator.
This remains my only objection. I genuinely miss the coverage of the portal this time of year.

As for the transfers, Farrell isn’t a big impact get for 2025, he’s a young player they must have liked out of school. He’s not some mega recruited guy or a big contributor on an awful Stanford team, so we’ll just have to see.

OT Xavier Gray was the big impact guy along with Karlaftis. All CUSA guy from a good program stepping up to presumably be an immediate P2 starter.

Karlaftis is clearly coming in to be an impact guy, but I’m not sure if it’s one I’m excited about. He was a central figure on, but not a standout within, a genuinely pathetically dreadful defense. However, we probably just need to trust Braun and McGarigle on this one. It certainly qualifies as acquiring an intended starter.

Hoping Yanni will benefit from a fresh start.

If there were written, unbiased rules, or a rant board…. But when the response is a private company can do whatever it wants, it’s loses that cool meeting place vibe. And the capping… meh, seems like a bad idea. Plus, I get more than enough CSC for free!

Yahoo doesn’t need your $8.33 a month.

Don’t let @CoralSpringsCat bully you into getting a subscription.

I’m proud to freeload even if I get banned more often. 😾

Reaching younger alums/students has got to be extremely difficult in this day and age for any program.

Young people that grew up in the 90s and 00s grew up with message boards.

Current young generation is growing up with TikTok/Instagram and probably way less likely to be using boards like these.

Is anybody on these boards under the age of 30?

You’re gonna need to wait until noon at the earliest for any sort of response.
