Northwestern leather jackets - can they be found?

I remember back in the '90s there were some really sharp Northwestern leather jackets on the market. Now I can't find any. Are they still made? Can they be gotten?

Okay, I did find a really nice Starter leather jacket on ebay recently, in pristine condition, for about $50 bucks. That seemed like a real bargain as I'm pretty sure it was more than that when it was made. There's still one out there (this one for $60).

But again, I seem to remember there being more variety than a single, old Starter jacket on ebay. What's the story?

Well, I see that somebody snagged that other Starter jacket from ebay.

I do like that wool and leather sleeve letterman jacket you suggested, and I might get one, but I'd also like to know that there are other full leather jackets on the market.

Feral, I bought two of them in 2000 just before the Alamo bowl. I was in a really good mood and bought one for myself and one for a lady who never showed up. So I kept both jackets for myself. The hell with her. One of them has never been worn. I have worn the other numerous times. It is a bit warmer than it looks. I have been very happy with it. It's not cheap. I. know I paid much much less in 2000.

My other suggestion is to call let's tailgate .. They know how to get all kinds of things even things they do not carry themselves.

Couple years ago I saw and almost bought a BEAUTIFUL wool and leather NU jacket at that shop west of the stadium on Central (just before Green Bay Road). I would imagine they still have them. As I remember, dark purple wool and black leather. Gorgeous.

I wonder if your thinking about the Jeff Hamilton Designs jackets? They were a much higher quality jacket. If I remember correctly they were a distressed brown leather with a faded people "N-Cat" logo on the back. They were around $400 I think. If so, I doubt you'll find one. They haven't been made in a long time.

Pretty sure I have got one of those. My better half bought it for me at the store (Locker Room?) across from Ryan Field. The folks at Let's Tailgate told me that it was no longer available.

My wife has one I bought for her around 1998=2000 that she put her father's 1936 NU football varsity letter on. She always wears it during the last half of the season and it is SO warm !!!! I just looked at the tag and it reads "HOLLOWAY"......so I assume that's the manufacturer. If I remember correctly, I bought it in downtown Evanston in that CAMPUS CLOTHING shop down the street from the old Marshall Fields store and across the alley from the Orrington Hotel. Sorry I can't remember the name, but it is still there.

Can they be custom-made? (Probably outside my current price range, but I'm curious.)

Has anybody had anything custom-made and, if so, what does it take to secure whatever licensing arrangements need to be made?
