I'm going to call Garret Rangel my early leader to become Northwestern's 2022 quarterback.
Why? He thinks he's a good fit for Mike Bajakian's offense and all that. But this is the big kicker -- he wants to major in journalism and be a sports broadcaster. So NU is just about a perfect fit. He said that Bajakian has been selling him on the virtues of Medill. Rangel has a 3.8 GPA, so academics are a big deal for him. But he also mentioned Northwestern's "amazing facilities" that he really wants to check out one day.
One interesting note: Rangel calls himself more of a pro-style quarterback who can scramble if he needs to rather than a true dual-threat guy. He said that Bajakian has been telling him that NU's offense will be more of a pro-style attack patterned after the system he ran at Tampa Bay.
