Official second-half thread

They are certainly a good team, but seriously, any offense at all and we are in this game. Our terrible offense bas finally caught up with us. Fitz had better change something next year because I don't think the defense will be as good next year, we are going to need points.

Yup.

WHY THE HELL ARE WE PASSING ON 3RD AND 2? AND CAN THORSON AT LEAST RUN THE OTHER DAMN WAY ONE TIME OUTSIDE OF THE NEBRASKA GAME? IT'S WIDE OPEN.

Thorson's eyes just look like he is scared as all get out. A few good things: Our OL looks SOLID. Godwin is awesome. Watkins is playing great.

Walker and Lowry are gassed, not their faults. Ifeadi is a no show. He needs to put on some serious strength or more weight.

3rd and 2, and he calls a pass! Our running game has been effective, and yet we really haven't tried to establish the running game. Run it down their throats!

Running game has been great 2nd half, too bad we only ran about 4 times.

Tenn has played nearly error free offense, which has made a big difference. We have played very solid D overall aside from a couple busted plays and dropped INT.

Our continued lack of passing offense is what's losing the game. The base rungame and D are strong as usual. Above that, our keys to winning this year have been at least 2 of the next 3: just enough passing offense, takeaways by the D, big special teams returns.

Well, if Tenn runs and takes off a lot of the clock then we will be forced to pass the rest of the way. We need some magic dust on Thorson. The whole team showed up except him. 30 days and he can't pass the ball straight. Granted our wide receivers started the day off dropping 4 passes. Springer MUST GO FITZ?? WHYFITZWHY? Lose the misplaced loyalty, dude you are killing us.

Our special teams have done a great job containing the Tenn returns, thanks to Mitchell and our gunners and Jones.

True, Cushing isn't an OL coach but he is a great recruiter, same with Springer. is there a way to keep them but just don't let them coach?
.

What great recruiting? We are getting killed virtually everywhere and we don't have a single NFL prospect on the OL. This "Cushing can recruit" thing is not backed up by the facts. There are a gazillion guys just as good or better at it, based on results (as opposed to purple pipe dreams).

Lots of missed tackles this half. Guys are getting tired because the offense can't stay on the field for more than a minute or two at a time.

Fat lady singing. Turn out the lights. Thorson needs to GET REAL next year and stop being scared. And we need to stop this loyalty with some awful coaches. It's killing us

NU is what it is - they get solid to good 3 star kids thats it and when they play teams with 4 and 5 star kids this is what happens - some people just dont get it.
when ya dont have and offense that can score ya get pounded because ya cant hide talent gap - in years past we have had some boarder line NFL qbs that could put up points and keep us in these games this year QB is bad thus POUNDED

If we want to compete we need to spend some of that BTN money on better coaches

Oh, UT's QB fumbled the snap!
....and turned it into a TD run...
Well, boys, this may not be our day.
Your underclassman QB fumbled the ball and was fluid and made a TD out of it. Our QB fumbles the ball and plays Hot Potatoe and tosses a INT. Our QB appears to be in the classroom trying to figure out this game DURING THE GAME instead of figuring it out in practice then just flowing in the game. He doesn't GET IT. At any rate, Vitale has been on the bench most of the game so go figure.

but by some our OC is not the problem

Well, McCall finally goes to his seniors in the last drive. But both Vitale and Jones drop the pill. Why do we have to continue discussing our wr coaching? After Fitz blew up the relationship with Johns, he seems insistent on force fitting a guy who never coached the position and wasn't even in coaching.

Did we really draw up a offensive game plan that did not include Vitale?

Growing pains of a RS frosh QB. Sigh.

At what point is a redshirt freshman "experienced?" This is his 13th game and second full season with the program. I'm just looking forward to the time when his "experience" pays off.

A few good things.....and I mean this.
1. Thorson has stood in the pocket a lot more
2. Thorson really has had some nice passes but 5 drops out of 16 passes.
3. Watkins is SOLID
4. The OL is SOLID and not sure why we didn't run more when it mattered. Puzzling to rely on our weaknesses and not go with our bread and butter.

Or switch to LB.

In fairness, he has learned and looked better. I'm not joking. He would bail out of the pocket a lot quicker. He is going through progressions and has had some really nice passes, which have unfortunately been dropped. He does occasionally have the horrible pass but it is usually prescribed after a very low snap [for whatever reason].
