OT- A message from Turk

Remember when there were only a few us, Mike? We always said there was plenty of room on the bandwagon...it took an NCAA season for them to climb aboard.

Ah yes, I remember the "Collins has lost this team" days quite well; when people would actually back up their words with actions by making wagers with me against the Cats (not SUCCESSFUL wagers, mind you, but at least I admired that their words were not empty). Now the only naysayers left are members of Carmody's immediate family (e.g. Mystic), or are deluded (e.g. Feli); waste of time even attempting to engage them except for the lulz, imo

Memba when when we used to clash at first since I didn't like the Carmody firing/Collins hire at first but you changed my mind? You might not recall, but all you had to do was point out to me that I was on the same side as DocCats Fan and Mystic, and I quickly realized that their side could not possibly the correct side of any fan argument. Wish others had come to that conclusion; the board wars would have been very short, with no casualties (e.g. Purp-- perhaps she is WickerPark?)

I do remember puffcat and many others. I wouldnt be surprised if many more lurkers actually sign up for handles, if our BB team makes an even deeper run this year than the writers believe.
I doubt that Ill be the only new handle around here once we go into the madness. The social bandwagon still has its doors open so dont save seats mikewebb.

I'm not proud of all the arguing I did in those days. Things could've been handled differently by A LOT of posters. As it is...it's great to see us (or most of us...there's still a few out there I guess) all united and enjoying the passage this team has taken.

Not as opposed to an old handle. In the context of lurkers. We never had to have a handle to lurk.
Also, you make good points regarding some of the infighting on the board in support of Collins vs Carmody. Those discussions drove many away from this board as they were unnecessarily negative. Many of us appreciated Bill and also respected Jim's hiring of Coach Collins. Thus far Jim has done a helluva job with our programs, including the hiring of Coach Collins.

I just got off the phone from speaking with Turk. He asked me to post something for him. Why? Who the hell knows why. Speaking to Turk is a bit like communicating in a foreign language, but I have a Masters degree in Turkspeak, so I am doing as he wishes. Anyway about an hour or so ago , Turk is at O'Hare airport and he sees Michael Wilbon getting off a plane dressed in purple head to toe. They have met before so he goes up to say hello, are you here for the Purdue game, no says Mike , Flying back to LA tomorrow but may be able to fly in Sunday for the game. So they chatted for a few minutes about the Cats making the big dance, how excited a lot of our alumni in the media are, etc.

What's his point?
