While the Cats are now doomed to a losing conference record with their loss to OSU, Nebraska’s loss to USC clinched their 8th consecutive sub .500 record in the B1G (and their 9th in the last 10.)
I'm almost to the point that if someone told me that Bo Pelinni (or Frank Solich) put a hex on the program when he was fired, I'd believe them. While the Cats are now doomed to a losing conference record with their loss to OSU, Nebraska’s loss to USC clinched their 8th consecutive sub .500 record in the B1G (and their 9th in the last 10.)
Me too. Their abysmal record in one score games is such a statistical anomaly and spans across like 3 head coaching regimes. Really the opposite of NU’s winning record in OT games.I'm almost to the point that if someone told me that Bo Pelinni (or Frank Solich) put a hex on the program when he was fired, I'd believe them.
If they lose out then maybe Donovan (OL coach) and Dylan Raiola could be persuaded to come here. If we had the $. I guess Nebraska’s OL seems pretty shaky though. They are also 0–9 since 2016 in games that would make them bowl eligible.
Hey, but the west coast teams have to play here in the snow in November. Although it won't be long before there are palm trees in Illinois.I was thinking how much I miss the Big10 ...I just cannot get into watching USC etc...I get the econ of the situation etc...but have no desire to watch a Big10 game on the West Coast in November....palm trees are just the wrong background.

They're somewhere in the middle of the pack as far as Big Ten football teams I hate, but honestly, I enjoy seeing them lose more than any other team (other than Penn State). Something about how great they think they SHOULD be that makes me happy to see other teams take them down a peg.Nebraska is hilarious.
What makes you think Raiola would clear NU’s admissions? If they lose out then maybe Donovan (OL coach) and Dylan Raiola could be persuaded to come here. If we had the $. I guess Nebraska’s OL seems pretty shaky though.
What makes you think he wouldn’t clear? What makes you think Raiola would clear NU’s admissions?
As a transfer, no less? 😂
Their last championship, 1995*, corresponds with the last season of the Big 8, which makes sense.Has any college football team fallen further than UNL? I am not sure I can think of one that even resembles their collapse from dominance. Army? Cornell? Minnesota? Yale?
As someone who grew up in Big 8 country, I find it amazing and sad.
Why do you need to be told that? You can see it is trueI'm almost to the point that if someone told me that Bo Pelinni (or Frank Solich) put a hex on the program when he was fired, I'd believe them.
Proximity to the DFW recruiting grounds is what OU has going for it over Nebraska. It is a pretty short drive to Norman for players’ families.I see Oklahoma as a high risk candidate to follow in the path of Nebraska now that they are in the SEC.
All the financial and fan support you could ask for hasn't saved Nebraska. And I don't see it doing anything for the Sooners.

It wasn't leaving the BIG 8 that triggered their downfall. It was the combination of changes in the game along with entering the BIG 10.Proximity to the DFW recruiting grounds is what OU has going for it over Nebraska. It is a pretty short drive to Norman for players’ families.
Edit: I guess, in the spirit of this thread, the proof of my assertion that OU won’t go the way of Nebraska lies in the fact that the Sooners didn’t suffer collapse when the Big 8 ended. Their success continued.
As I think more about it, their situations are eerily similar.I see Oklahoma as a high risk candidate to follow in the path of Nebraska now that they are in the SEC.
