Temple / Memphis started off pretty slow, with the Owls stymieing the Bulldogs 13-0 late in the first half until Memphis found some life and got a FG at :04. 13 - 3 Owls.
Then things went nuts. The Bulldogs scored 24 straight points with several big plays to go up 27 - 13. Temple finally countered with a long pass TD to close within one store with about 7 mins to go. But Memohis returned the kickoff for a TD. 34 - 20 Memphis after being down 13 - 0!
Temple answered again with a quick drive, aided by a few penalties, to make it 34 - 27 at 3:45. Temple forced a 3 and out, then roughed the punter. They forced another and hot the ball back with :50 and 80 yards to go. Temple got to the Memphis 45 with :28, at which point Jesse Palmer quipped "Now, no matter what, they will be able to throw into the end zone if they need to." On the next play, interception.
Way to go Palmer. Jerk.
Several injuries in this game, unfortunately. The Owl kicker was hurt on the return, so the backup came in. The regular Owl kicker, a good one, missed two FGs.
