Our offensive staff's resumes

Nice parade of weak excuses. Rankings are different now because soda pop used to cost a quarter back then...

Highly regarded OL on this years mess: Mertz, Olson, DePietro, Park, North, Coverdale - just for upperclassmen. In last year's 10 win season, that stellar line also had highly regarded recruits: Konopka, Mogus, Playko. I cannot remember who graduated when, but in recent years add Vitable, Jorgensen. And when exactly do you recall the OL as a strength of this team? These guys had 3 stars or better and offers from other major programs.

Coincidentally, can you cite the basis for your belief the star system is watered down? That is very depressing if true considering our only 2017 QB recruit is a two star. If they give that third star away like water, what are you saying about Marty and his potential? I'll hang up and listen.
Think the QB your referencing was NU's 4th or 5th choice.

Well, in the past 11 years, no B1G championship. And the Sox fans send messages with their pocketbooks. While I didn't like either of the Adam signings, the Sox have not sat on their thumbs. Time to let Ventura go too. Bet you the Sox are active yet again this offseason - it's all the fan of a program in decline can ask.
Actually the sox fans don't send messages with their pocketbooks. In their World Series season they still did not fill the park in September. Face it, it's a Cubs town and the signings the sox have made in the past few years have essentially failed. Really hope Phillips and company don't let NU drag on like that for another 10 years.

I don't really give a crap about star ratings, but when did three stars become "highly rated?"

Everything is relative. At NU, a recruit with 3 stars and P5 offers is highly rated. Four stars is a godsend. 5 stars doesn't happen. (Dont tell me about about an underperforming 5 star transfer. And even at that announcement, the world of NU was filled with disbelief and joy.)

Signings recently have failed. Agree to disagree about sox town and pocketbooks. Agree hoping NU doesn't spend the next 10 years at the bottom.

In today's world of recruiting rankings, 3 stars basically means "D1/BCS."

Bad choice singling out Prater, as I was probably the one poster around here most urging others to temper expectations.
