Outraged by Tribune again

Does not matter who fills their stadium, it is filled and ours is not. And until it is, or we do something like 95, they will still get the headlines. (and maybe not even then) Fact is, ND is a top 10 team and they just demolished another traditional national (though not strong now) program. Like it or not, crushing Texas sounds better than getting by Stanford who is sort of a come lately "power" program and more regional than national.

That you expected something different in coverage than what we got suggests you really need a hobby.
I didn't expect any difference from the Chicago rags but that doesn't make it right. Stanford is more of a national program then Texas and were rated #21. Do you really think that TSISB is a top ten team? I'm hoping that Stanford takes them to the woodshed when they meet later this season and knocks them out of the rankings. I've got many hobbies and reading, including newspapers is one of them

You are kidding right? Texas not a National program? Them with 15 national titles and 32 conference championships? They, like TSISB are basically the only two programs that can demand what they do with their own networks. Stanford with two national titles) is decent but not at the same level as TX as a national program

And don't look now but ND is ranked from 6 to 11 depending on the poll. And Stanford is no longer ranked.

Likewise, NU got good press here in Alaska (where there was no mention beyond the box score listing for all teams, of Notre Dame.) The lead photo on the College Football page of the Sports Section was all NU!

I agree that the ND victory is the bigger story, but I don't agree that it should be.

Already, I see the national press whipping themselves up into another sickening frenzy. "Is it too soon to pencil the Irish in for the playoffs?" Giddiness abounds.

Notre Dame did to Texas what any bowl quality team should do to Texas. That's all. Will ND get more than six wins this year? Probably so. Are the Irish elite? Who knows? Beating up Texas falls well short of proof.

Texas is a hollow shell of a power program. But hollow shells still sell newspapers.

(I now place the full weight of my hopes in the hands of Stanford, who I expect to rebound and knock off Notre Dame. I'm perfectly happy to enjoy a transitive victory over the Irish, if that's the only available option.)
