Inside NU actually has some pretty good preview articles going on about Cats’ softball. Most recent one is about the pitching staff, Lauren Boyd is coming back from injury, and how she performs likely will go a long way toward determining how we do. We have the two second year pitchers returning, and they should be better. Most intriguing, from my viewpoint, is first year Emma Baugh, a very highly ranked pitcher. States that she has a fastball that sits around 70 mph. Don’t think we’ve really had that type of true heat in a while. It will be interested how she makes the jump from high school to the B1G.
We certainly don’t seem to have the true dominant pitcher we had in Danielle or Ashley (at least for most of last year), but you never know. Should be an exciting season.
The Cats will have a tough time defending their championship with UCLA now a B1G member. But I like our chances. Go Cats!
