JV listed a one of the 4 players not returning for 2016-17.....

Guess that is news... I suppose my chance to ridicule a certain poster once JV walked out on the Court this year as the back up PG are officially vanquished... (I keep forgetting the /s)

Junk. Calling Pardon an "unknown commodity" and citing Law as one of the team's best players yet offering little/nothing on what he contributes?

I think Dererk is a question mark. He needs to work on playing defense without fouling. He can't contribute on the bench.

I would agree. We have seen a really good Pardon and another that disappeared with foul trouble...but as a true frosh. This season should reveal what he is. The Nebraska version would be nice.

Yes, but he isn't an "unknown commodity."

What do you know? What is his baseline for this year? His ending stats for last year? Those stats normalized?

Think we can look for maybe something on the order of 8-10 PPG, 6 RPG and 1.5 blocks per game from Pardon this season. Would you agree?

I'm thinking 8 ppg, 4.5 rpg (6 would have put him 13th in the Big 10 last season, and AO only averaged 5.4) and 0.8 to 1 block (1.5 would have ben good for 6th last year). He will be improved but not a stat sheet stuffer I think.

Olah wasn't a good rebounder. He played soft. The one thing I noticed about Pardon (and correct me if I'm wrong, I don't know a THING about basketball) is that he really fights for boards. Yeah, he was wild and clearly raw, but I liked how he attacked the glass. Almost Olah's polar opposite. He plays kinda mean and Olah played too nice IMO

I agre with all your point. Give yourself credit, you know more about hoops than a few others on this board.....

I think I would line up with NJ on Pardon. Would like to see more, but could see how less happens too. I think staying out of foul trouble will dictate his stat line. When he is on the floor, I think he will be populating the statistics.

Like me...

I think we might see the most un-NU like rebounding team in my lifetime. I agree that Pardon looks like a boarder. And Law cleaned up the Boards really well in year one. Mac is pretty good on the boards for a PG and Lindsey has that length and leaping ability. Not sure about Falzon - but I bet Pardon and Law clean up the boards like nothing we have seen in purple.

"un-NU like" is the perfect way to put it. Soft, scrawny sissies from the years past. Pardon is NOT that. Neither was JVZ, but his coordination was just really bad. Exciting time to be an NU hoops fan

Add Skelly and Benson to that mix, and we should be pretty good at rebounding.

there's a difference between being soft, and being slower and lacking fluidity. And I don't want to compare NU players too much.

Pardon moves towards the ball before it comes off the rim. He has that instinct. His arms gather in the rebound like a cobra strikes. And he has hands the size of hub caps. He's formidable.

Agree with Medill90. The way to measure or evaluate big man is foot quickness, explosiveness in grabbing rebounds on the offensive and defensive ends and blocking shots, ability to work with guards and guards in setting picks to open up space and ability to hit open jump shot from the elbow or near the free throw line or on the baseline when guards penetrate and the centers leave their man to double the penetrating guards. Pardon is leaps and bounds ahead of Olah those aspects of the game in his freshman season except for the ability to hit an open shot. I did not see the exhibition last night, but from my memory of last season, Pardon has much more lateral quickness and foot quickness than Olah. He also has a much better pedigree coming from being on high school state championship teams and pairing with Carlton Bragg, a top 10 high school prospect who is at Kansas.

Yeah but olah was also soft. If I had that frame I'd be starting in the MLB, NBA, and NFL if I wanted to
