Is there a reason why there is not more of an emphasis placed by Fitz on recruiting a better punter. Niswander never seems to get the job done. As often as we punt it would be nice if we had a punter that could help our defense out more. Our punter typically have been walk-ons, I think it would be worth a scholarship to get someone who was able to boom it instead of hitting low line drives.

Niswander was recruited as a scholarship player. This is the first full year he has been the first-string punter.

This year, NU recruited the #3 punter in the country Blake Gillian out of Georgia hard. It came down to NU, UGA and PSU. Unfortunately he verbally to PSU. This myth that NU doesn't recruit punters or kickers lives on.
