TE Zach Giuliano commits to Northwestern

Happy to see these commitments but feels like we're pretty far from landing four star guys we might have been in the running for a few years ago.
Another year of solid results from the team and that should come.

This is basically like any coach change, takes 2+ years for recruiting to get back oftentimes when the replacement isn't a known quantity.

Saw same thing when Fitz was first promoted to HC.

He has a pretty impressive offer list of 13 P5 programs including the NC runner up. Teams from PAC, SEC, Big12, BIG, ACC and this is still early, What more do you want? Looks like he should be rated higher based on offer list.

EdgyTim also seems to think Caden Rourke should be ranked a mid 4 star and higher than his brother (who was a low 4 star).

Not really. When Fitz came in we were already at our nadir on the recruiting front. That was the 2006 Bacher class where Bacher and Kevin Mims were the only 3 stars in the class (and uncoincidentally the only two who ended up being starters for us). It was worse than this year’s class.

I think one reason people think Fitz was a decent recruiter is because of how bad recruiting was before he took over. We did improve our recruiting under Fitz but it was largely like being the tallest midget with all those classes barely ranked in the top 50.

Don't count on the solid results for the next couple years, Last years team was built for success and to win but with graduations and big losses through the portal, we are going to be very undermanned unless there is a huge influx of talent through portal and hard to see that happening.

Will wait to see what happens with baited breath. If the amazing work that was done in the DL room is a reflection of the coaching and development we are going to be seeing in terms of doing more with less with the addition of these FCS guys, maybe, just maybe we are gonna be alright.

Maybe eventually but initially we are going to be at a significant talent deficit because of what we lost in portal. Usually takes a couple years for any development effect to make a difference

It might take a few seasons under Braun to get to that point as a result of the B1G expansion and getting used to the new dynamics of it. It seems we will still have many of our B1G West rivals still on the schedules, but the addition of the ex PAC 12 teams will throw a wrench into things I think. Making a bowl will be harder during the next two seasons.
