Are athletics a priority for wealthy NU grads. Other than the Ryan's investments and the new Lakers owner it would appear perhaps there is really not much love for the Wildcat athletic endeavors.

Actually, in the drug world El Chapo was also known for making charitable donations and helping many worthy causes. Bernie was a scion of the NYC arts community. Even thieves can have a heart for good causes.
It's also similar to the sportswashing that middle eastern countries are doing with their sponsorship of pro golf and pro tennis.
