Tuck is…

Just like fitz. Suspension first then wait for some juicy articles. Then 86’d

They don’t have to wait for public articles, just the formal hearing at the conclusion of the Title IX investigation to establish cause.

To me the Clown show that is run by our administrators is beyond the scope of absurd. NU will sweep this under the table with hush payments to the ex-players who are disgruntled little boys and Fitz will get an out of court settlement in the hundred of millions range. Nothing at NU changes and the true perps in the administration will continue on because our BOT are spineless academics.

NU only owes Fitz 40 million. You think he will get multiple times that?

Quite a world where we can say “only $40 million.” I could see him suing for more if he feels there was slander or libel or whatever the legal term, the fallout of which could severely limit his future employability and earnings.

Anyway, I don’t think the MSU BOT and President are going to go from suspension to firing in 48 hours based on a student newspaper report. And MSU has much more reason to quickly respond based on the recent history in their athletic department.

The more I read about this the more I feel like Tucker is getting railroaded by a crazy. It sounds like they had a relationship with countless calls and she’s alleging sexual assault from phone sex all while wishing him a happy Father’s Day weeks later. Something doesn’t add up.

My conspiracy machine time alarm is dinging…

MSU saves $77M by firing him for cause and “settles” with her for a fraction of that (5% finder’s fee? Round up to $4M).

Despite Tucker’s claims… she will get the public’s benefit of the doubt, especially given the awful stuff she’s been through.

LSU & A&M are watching closely and taking notes. Both on our situation and MSU’s. They could save a lot of money.

Why is this title IX?

It isn’t really, but that’s the office at Michigan State handling the investigation and is more “Title IX adjacent.” Should’ve been more precise.

Tracy was also technically a “vendor” of MSU while Tucker was a full-time employee, so could apply in that context.

From a longer ESPN FAQ article, full link at the end:

What impact do federal Title IX regulations have on the Tucker investigation?

While the office at Michigan State that investigates Title IX complaints is handling this case, Tracy's allegations were not classified as a Title IX complaint. The federal Title IX law guarantees equal access to education and typically applies to complaints made by or pertaining to students. However, it's common for universities to adopt a policy for addressing sexual violence and harassment that conforms with Title IX regulations and apply it to all types of complainants and situations. Guerrant said all allegations of sexual misconduct, relationship violence or stalking fall under the same policy at Michigan State.

The university's relationship violence and sexual misconduct policy applies to "all forms of gender discrimination (including sexual harassment, sexual assault, and sexual violence) against employees, students, and third parties," which would cover Tracy as a vendor whose work was allegedly affected by Tucker's actions. She said Tucker postponed and eventually cancelled a paid speaking engagement she was supposed to have with the team after she confronted him about his alleged harassment, according to USA Today. Tucker refuted this claim in a statement Monday, but, according to USA Today, Tucker agreed that he took part in cancelling her visit with the team when he was interviewed about the issue during the investigation.”

I'm confused.
Are we freeloaders allowed to discuss Mel Tucker again?
What about Carl Richardson?

Is Coral now standing tall as a modern day JFK?
"ask not what your censor can do for you - ask what you can do for your censor..."

Or is this thread going to be shut down in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1....

How can you assure that LSU and A&M will have head coaches who masturbate on a phone call with a sexual assault victim? Is this a common occurrence in your world?

LSU just has to have Kelly kill another kid while videotaping practice and they’ll have an out. It’s probably sadly just a matter of time.

Who knows what A&M boosters have planned for poor Jimbo. I’ve been to Texas on work and met a few, they’re nuts.

So who is the next MSU permanent HC? I got to assume they go after Narduzzi at Pitt, and bring in a very good OC.

I'm no fan of Tucker or MSU, but if she was an unwilling participant in the phone sex, why didn't she just tell him to take a hike and hang up. Suspect MT's lawyer will ask that question.

There was a long article in the NYTimes about that question a few weeks back. The rape victims reported feeling powerless and unable to react due to the shock and strangeness of the circumstances even though another part of their brains said flee and fight back.

But it’s a phone call.

Just as I am reluctant to opine on the right/propriety of a woman's decision to abort an unwanted pregnancy (being male I find it hard to identify or empathize with the woman who has to make that difficult choice), I find it difficult to criticize the way a sexual harassment victim reacts to that harassment -- particularly in a case where the victim had previously experienced a sexual trauma far more invasive than the subsequent conduct she faced from Mr. Tucker.

Amen.

Exactly. Not to mention, there is a power dynamic at play here. This woman was being paid to work for Michigan State as a consultant. If you're worried about the current job and how your reaction would affect your ability to get future jobs, you might just go with it for as long as you could take it out of fear. Women have gone centuries being abused with no repercussions for the abuser, so it may not be so easy to just say "take a hike" when it means possibly losing your job and no one will believe you anyway.

I thought I read it happened on two phone separate phone calls? Was that not the case? If so, that would make her reaction ever more difficult to comprehend.
They had dozens upon dozens of phone calls, including late at night. I don’t know which exactly are alleged to be the issue, but it’s all phone calls….

Both Tucker and Tracey completely deleted all text messages between each other, so no written record before or after phone calls.

Tucker should be fired because he’s a moron and he lied to the MSU admin, but not all is as it seems here, imo.
