Benson had a monster game. A little more weight work on the upper body and more work with coach James and he's going to be very good.

Regarding "the play"....I remember when Tap was recruited that there was a lot of talk about what a great baseball player he had been....one of the better pitchers in central Illinois for his age. He threw that pass like it was nothing. Like it was an intentional walk.

Ok, one last thing....Law's defense was excellent all game. NU's perimeter defense was excellent. As was Michigan's.

(just watched the game for the first time after getting back from vacation)

Who else was glad they were unable to foul Pardon on the play and put him on the line with tenths left for the win?

Agree that Benson had a solid game. He's going to be a strong contributor next year.

that's funny, b/c in one of the sports shows where they went into detail on the game (I think late night SportsCenter, but not 100% sure), they were talking about how they were surprised to hear he was a HS golfer and not a baseball player.

Sanjay is also a golfer, apparently a low handicap guy.

All the announcers could say was that Derrick Walton had a bad game. Odd that they never noticed why. Or that Peter Jok had a very weak scoring game against us but not why. Vic Law is a GREAT perimeter defender. I hope he gets defensive player of the year for the conference, but don't count on it.

Another thing I have not seen much comment on outside of the game thread (and only there in a negative way), was something that we did on D that had to surprise Michigan a bit; switching on virtually every screen. It made for some crazy matchups (Pardon/Benson on Walton, BMac on Wagner), but overall seemed effective.

Does someone who knows more about coaching than I know why we did this, other than to surprise them? Can't imagine we do that much in practice, so kudos to the players for pulling it off! I recall only one missed switch the entire night (the easy layup for Wagner).
