Were we playing soft D the 2nd half?

We were ceding the middle of the field to their receivers, especially on the first drive of the half. There were several completions to a receiver in the middle of the field with no defenders around him.

I'd just like somebody who understands Xs and OS to explain what was going on. The D looked much different in the 1st half.

The Howard staff figured out a way to get their backs and/or slot WR singled up on our backers, then ran a lot of shake routes.

I just think our DL are quite weak and our LBs are terribly slow and Howard wore us down as depressing as that sounds.
