Pretty sad article, I mean who goes to the chains? I get it if you're in Arizona craving an Italian beef but actually in the city?? This is akin to going to McDonald's for a Chicago hamburger

I can attest for Portillos out in the Chicago suburbs. Never been to Buona.

There are better. Portillos tend to be tasty enough but when I have had them (not lately) they were a bit skimpy on the beef

The food may be so-so - don't know - but those places looked sparkling clean. Must be a Midwest thing. Most of the fast food chains in the DMV look like they are going out of business and won't pay for anyone to clean.

When you get cheese on an Italian steak sandwich does that make it the equivalent of a cheese steak?
