Jack Lausch started 10 games of the 2024 season at quarterback and Northwestern announced he'll be playing this spring season for the baseball team in the outfield, too. @lou v breaks down what Lausch's reemergence as a two-sport athlete means for him, Northwestern football and the future.

How do we know the knew guy will beat him out as #1 QB? That isn't pressed in stone.

But seriously, good on Lausch to stay around instead of transferring to Iowa

Reassuring to see the general consensus that Lausch is not going to be the answer at QB.

Hope he ultimately finds his way into MLB.

Good luck to Jack. What a talented athlete.

Let him play WR next fall.

(I assumed Wright was out of eligibility, but I guess you can play four games a season until you’re 36 now.)

Would love to see if he can play WR but I don’t know if he ever has, and whether knowing the playbook as QB1 prepares you well to run those routes as a WR. Moreover if he misses most of spring for baseball then I don’t see how he can learn the WR position well enough.

I think the article’s suggestion that he’ll likely return to the Wildcat package QB makes sense since it’s a very small set of plays to know for someone who’s splitting time between 2 varsity sports.
