Folks, I did a week of hard time for my close but no cigars prognostication of the wildcats beating both Purdue and Illinois last week. As my jailor, smolenolia pointed out, I got to do an entire thirty days. I am filing a motion with this board to grant me an extension until the NCAA tournament is over to do my final three weeks? Why? I was exactomundo correct on our beloved wildcats! We played pressurized defense and knocked down those deadly threes. Falzon was the key to our awakening! Kid is 6:8 with a beautiful release. We know Scottie and Vic Law can be deadly. But if those three guys can shoot 40 percent this year, we can beat MSU for sure! Ash looked amazing on defense. He led the team in steals, and is a great passer! Did you see him dunk the ball? We need Ash on the court for 15-20 minutes per game as he is the best passer and defender on the team. I like Gaines and Brown also. Heck,MSU plays nine guys, so do we need to do also! Remember when we got blown out by Texas Tech? Mac and the starters played the entire game. Keep the pedal to the medal. So folks, do I get a stay in my execution? I will be supervised closely. For sure!

You were wrong about purdue but most thought we were going to get blown out, so you were still more accurate than everyone else. And you provided the only analysis that showed we would go to the ncaas last year when the gurus had us possibly in the NIT.

Thanks guys! I am not on a man crush on Ash! I just believe in the Wisconsin model of football and basketball. That is defense wins championships! I don’t really care who is out there, as long as we get set on defense. Just watch yesterday’s game. We got set every time on defense and it was a thing of beauty!
No. No. No. Ash is not the best defender on the team - Vic Law is. He is not the best passer on the team - Bryant McIntosh is and is the all-time leader at NU in assists and no you can't beat MSU with a one-dimensional player who has made 1 3 pointer and 1 2-point shot in 10 games. Nice try but you should bench yourself again until you figure out that Ash is not the answer. The production of the bench will be critical to the team's success, but the key players are Falzon/Skelly whoever comes off the bench, Benson, Brown and Gaines.
I see Mac as starter for sure! I like Ash as his backup! I like Gaines out there backing up Falzon! I like Gaines and Ash to get 10,15 or more minutes if possible. My starting five are Falzon,MAC,Scottie,Law, and Pardon! I got Pardon getting backed up by Benson!
Actually, i agree. Skelly has been outright awful. I felt he had a fair year last year but he obviously isnt a good starter.
Skelly is too slow! The Illinois guards ran right past him! For me, yesterday was the baptism of Anthony Gaines! Gaines was first off the bench and did not disappoint! He had some nice steals and breakaways! We are playing very well as a team. My first eight players are starters Mac, Pardon, Scottie, Vic and Pardon. Next in are Gaines,Ash,and Benson! We really don’t lose much with those eight guys. Brown and Skelly are fine backing up those three, but I don’t see them getting more than 5-10 minutes a game. Especially Skelly as Gaines is lightning quick for a small forward and darn athletic. Gaines played solid defense yesterday!

Gaines might already be a better defender than Ash, and he provides rebounding and scoring too
And he is taller! Love Gaines! I’m more exited about Falzon! We are pretty weak with Skelly in there! Having Aaron take the place of Skelly makes us a much, much better team. Brown is hot and cold, but he is the quickest guy on the team and has lots of potential. So he needs some minutes each game. Personally, I like a two guard lineup with Mac and Ash. Then have Law, Pardon, and either Scottie or Falzon in there. Depending on how hot Scottie or Falzon is, I would keep them both in there, and drop Ash out to sub, when Mac gets tired. We need Ash on the court for 20 minutes a game. But we need Mac for 25-30! Pardon 25/ Benson 15! Law gets 30 minutes. Falzon and Scottie get 25! Gaines get 15! Brown 5-10. Skelly 5-10
