Women’s Team

It was a fun game to watch. Caileagh Walsh is out injured, and Melanie Daley played limited minutes. We're a transfer dominated team. Illinois State has won 20 games each of the last two years, 3 years postseason in a row. So not a slouch opponent. I'm hoping we're better than last year, but we'll see.

Is Walsh expected back and, if so, when?

When I look at the roster, Coach Joe has had more than his share of failed recruits. No idea why but this ship has been sinking for some time. The transfers this year were better and necessary to field a team

Plus Walsh is the real deal.
Is she though? Unless she's changed dramatically over the summer, she doesn't play defense, moves pretty slowly up and down the court, and is very tentative in general. She seems to spend most of her time standing on the arc waiting to take a three. She's built to be the real deal and has a nice touch when she shoots, but I've rarely seen her express anything like competitive fire.

I get it but she's a big body that can rebound and score. Given the other choices that makes her a player.

I agree she's an asset to the team, I just don't think she's the 'real deal'. I really hope she proves me wrong this year, though. She seems like a good kid and I want her to succeed.

Yeah, probably a little hyperbolic on my part. It isn't like NU has been blowing anybody's doors off the past few years.
