How screwed is Cal? Are the ACC really considering them & Stanford

Until the PAC gets kicked out of the Power 5, it makes sense for them to poach the best teams from the MWC and maybe the AAC.

I’m not sure they can. Remember that when San Diego State backed off its “intention” to leave the Mountain West, it did so right before the MWC exit fee was about to increase from $17 to $34 million. Where is the money going to come from to pay $130+ million in exit fees in 2024? The MWC was unwilling to consider any accommodations of San Diego St.

The PAC still doesn’t have a media deal and the steep subscription targets established by Apple+ (that expired last Friday)would be more difficult to achieve for a Mountain West team, much less much of the PAC.

The Mountain West has a TV deal with CBS Sports (and a few OTA games on CBS) and FOX that expires in 2026. That’s more than the PAC has to offer at this point

Well, it seems SDSU has been trying to rally the best teams from the MWC and AAC to join the PAC, but they have failed.
