NIU to join Mountain West as football-only member?

I don't really understand this move, either. Just read a Trib article about it and the head coach generally mentioned that playing early/mid-week games (which is part of the "MACtion" brand and their tv deal) was undesirable and the move to MWC will actually ease travel by plane over taking the bus regionally everywhere...but I hardly see this as the reason the board of trustees would approve a move...especially when NIU has generally been pretty successful in the MAC. There was no mention in the Trib article about tv money, but I'd be hard-pressed to believe NIU is going to make substantially move in MWC over the MAC.

Another one from out of nowhere. Started his career at Clemson for 3 years (where he played a decent amount), then 1 year at UCF (where he barely played, wonder if injured), before 1 year Jax State (where he was a starter and Honorable Mention all-conference).

EDIT TO UPDATE: This kid has played a ton of ball, should step right in and start for us. PFF had him at a 76.2 this season, which is pretty strong.

This is your veteran CB addition. Still wouldn’t mind another veteran WR and OL, but might have to come in the spring window at this point.

FURTHER EDITED TO UPDATE: This kid was the real deal out of HS, top-50 recruit by everyone, offers from all the Blue Bloods. Not the kind of long, twitched-up corner we usually get. Basically a Theran replacement, right down to the same jersey number and hairstyle.

MSU next Sunday is a must win

Every single game, at the first chance, when left open, he gets into his shooting motion and attempts a 3. It's kind of a "I am entitled to burn a shot a game" thing. He usually skips the next opportunity, not even setting his feet pointing to the basket, not even attempting to fake a triple threat. As his shooting motion looks fluid and, especially for a big guy, technically sound, we have just been waiting for it to start going down.

What bothers me is that he just keeps doing this. Can you imagine Matt or Fitzmorris doing this? Hey, let me burn my one a game shot, because everyone gets one?

I could swallow him just moving to burning that shot when calmly setting his feet, taking his time, not rushing the shot, like have 2 seconds to concentrate on the basket before shooting it. See what happens for the next five games/burned shots. But no, just the same quick, confident looking for some reason, quick for a big guy, shot. Shooters keep shooting, but non shooters? Insanity is repeating the same thing and...
Fitzmorris would spin and hurl a 3-point shot like an Olympian throwing a discus. The funny thing is 1) he would make the shot 2) he would clock the defender on the follow-through, knocking him out cold 3) he would draw foul and make it a 4-point play.

ILL expects 18 starters to return.

Wouldn’t you love that.

Bert certainly is one of the better Coaches in the B1G. What he is really good at is picking Assistant Coaches and Support staff.
His players love him. He gets results.

Until Northwestern learns how to be leaders at something other than sports media & materials science & other areas, I am proud to cheer on the Illini if they do things the right way.

My uncle, aunt, and many other friends studied in Champagne. It is a great school and their engineering program is better than NU’s, top to bottom. 🧮

When Luke makes a shot it is almost worse, because you know he is “feeling” it. There will be more shots coming. Layups only!
