Big Ten TV Schedule: Week Two (9/6-9/7)

Another superb performance Styre. You're going to be exhausted by season's end, especially when football and basketball overlap. On Friday I'll be comfortably ensconced in my Lazy Boy beer in hand. The big challenge will be staying up until the game is over, but I believe I can handle it by limiting myself to 3 Mooseheads.

To paraphrase Mark Twain, I never drink to excess, I drink in moderation: only one beer at a time.

They were repeating what they were told by the whistleblower. And the summary report said the claims were “largely supported” by the evidence. Ok great, any info on the who, what, when? Zippo.

I am fully aware that we will likely never know what really happened. It’s just shocking to me that these events actually happened and no one seems to care to know who did it. Are we cheering on violent assaulters every Saturday? Who knows.
Lou referenced his own seperate sources beyond the whistleblower. When I get on the ground, I’ll do a little research for you

Why I'm cautiously optimistic about the offense after week 1

I think the issue with Wright is that he gets a little excited and that is why his throws are inconsistent. I think he has a good enough arm and can read the defense fairly well, but his throws are affected by him thinking a bit too much and it affects his accuracy. However, as he becomes more comfortable in his position and with the knowledge that the coaches have his back, he will be difficult on defenses who have to keep track of all the receivers and watch out for his ability to run.
I think you're right. One thing I kept thinking Saturday is, "why aren't there more designed runs for Wright?" I think that will be coming as defenses get better (this Friday?). This past Saturday seemed to be all about setting up that Wright is a passer first, and then we unleash hell when he starts running for 100 yards a game!

But also, Wright is significantly more comfortable in the pocket than Sullivan was. Wright looks like a quarterback who can run versus an athlete who sometimes throws the ball.

And I agree that it’s great that he’s not looking over his shoulder at who is behind him, for I think the first time in his career.

How are we not happier here?

It was a workmanlike effort over a decent team without any particularly dramatic plays. My son is watching highlights of the first Utah matchup right now, with Gus Johnson on the call and lots of fun stuff happening. I'm thrilled we won yesterday, and the defense was great, but for some reason there isn't just a lot to talk about. Hard to completely understand.

As Freewillie said above, convincingly beat Duke next week and NU will have everyone's attention.
I'll take any win against Dook this Friday. It's Dook week. I hate Dook.

Why I'm cautiously optimistic about the offense after week 1

I thought Wright was fine Saturday but could've been much better on putting the pass on the money. I don't expect perfection, but there were a few plays that were like three-yard gains or incompletions that a slightly better pass would've resulted in more yards. These aren't major things in Game One, but it's something to keep an eye on. My sense is he hurried a number of his throws, but as he gets more comfortable that will be better.

Oh don’t you worry, I will continue to bang the drum that there are allegedly players and coaches on the team that participated in hazing. No one seems to care which leads me to believe this was all a nothing burger.

Looking forward to your analysis of the QB/center exchange
Looking forward to your reporting of the details revealed in the sworn discovery and depositions. Even without leaks, they will end up being found as exhibits in the motion practice following discovery. Anyone TRULY obsessed with this portion of the story will be able to find the answers they seek eventually.

You’re 0-2. Keep swinging though.
Yup - don’t believe your lying eyes…. It’s the theme of the current period…. Ignore what has been witnessed, read, reported… if it doesn’t fit the current narrative of the group controlling the environment, then it never happened. Wait for the replies from ppd saying ‘what?’ - gaslighting this post as another example of erasing factual history…

Reminder, Braun is winning with Fitz recruits. Fitz greatest attribute was his ability to convince talented football players to come to NU and play in front of a half empty stadium.

I think Braun is a really good coach. I just don’t know how he will recruit.
☝🏽This

Braun still has Fitz players and a new offense was introduced. I think the fact that there were no sacks and the running game was led by a really quick QB shows a huge difference from past years. From the Wright interview I saw, it appeared he got a bit excited when he got in the red zone and he took responsibility for not getting more points. But if he can get a little more poise, he will be good and the offense will gel more. Right now it is just potential but it’s a lot easier when you win that game for the players to be motivated to fix the mistakes.

What you have to realize is that some of this stuff definitely happened. But the question is was there abuse of players perpetrated on them against their will? I know players, who have told me things like the Car Wash happened, but they walked by and did not participate and they were respected. But the point that continues to be made here, is if what happened is a fireable offense for Pat, why have there not been players implicated in these offenses? It's a fair question, that certainly casts a shadow on all of the "reporting" on these matters. Where are the Woodward and Bernsteins? No names? No perpetrators? Two investigations paid for by the University? Just allegations of wrongdoing? Sorry, no Pulitzers being handed out here, and I don't see any of these articles as particularly helpful.

Lou and Matt had a story where an anonymous ex-employee corroborated that there was hazing and stated that it was well-known within the program.

I have no idea who the anonymous source was and whether or not he was disgruntled and had an agenda. Anonymous sources are inferior to named sources for those reasons, but I guess an anonymous source is enough to publish a story.
Was not an anonymous source to Lou. Simply Lou honored request not to disclose the identity.

He was looking at the combination of College and Pro and recruiting and thought the combination would work with the other guys we had McGargle was probably not quite ready so he brought in JON He actually made the decision that he was the wrong guy fairly quickly.
Why are you such a Fitz apologist? JON had no record of being a successful DC at any level of the game. His record in the NFL was worse than anyone who didn’t have a record because of how god awful his defenses were and how they underperformed each time he took over relative to before he arrived. His putrid performance at NU could have been and was predicted by some. And Fitz made a decision that he was the wrong guy fairly quickly? Guys lose their jobs after a game like our first game under JON. We went two years with that fool. Quickly my foot.
