Uggh.... stupid Peacock

Aside from the expense, Peacock just absolutely sucks for sports viewing. There is no way to move forward or backward in increments. It is very hard to skip commercials and even halftime. I hate Peacock most of all. Gimme OwlVision even.
The Olympics coverage on Peacock was awesome. It seems to be getting better, and has lots of things worth watching. (Snl)

Big Ten TV Schedule: Week Seven (10/11-10/12)

You are the best Styre. I was in Evanston last week and thoroughly enjoyed my trip to the temporary new stadium, but I was not able to catch many of the other games. This week I'll be relaxed in my lazy boy, the mini-fridge is full of October Fest, and I'll be able to switch games with the click of a button. Life is good. Thanks!
Sorry, I missed you at Indiana. I am skipping my 55th in November. Las Vegas ,last year , was great ,except for losing Heard after family was so proud of their son's NU degree

Uggh.... stupid Peacock

You are missing out on Peacock's best sports event-The Six Nations Rugby Tournament. Everybody should enjoy bleeding, concussions and broken limbs. The tournament begins about Feb 1 and extends through March. Ireland will be defending its' championship.

For rugby enthusiasts, Leinster host Munster at Croke Park, Dublin this weekend. It is already sold out with more than 70,000 expected. The Taoiseach gave dispensation for the match to be played at Croke Park, usually reserved exclusively for GAA sports-hurling and Gaelic football. The match can be seen on Flosports-the best bargain for rugby enthusiasts-URC(United Rugby Championship), French Top 14, Pacific Rugby Championship(NZ, Australia, Pacific Islands), Currie Cup(S. Africa), Fall and Summer internationals
Rugby is the most demanding contact sport. It requires fitness, strength, aggression, speed, agility and quality mouthpieces

You've sold it well - I think I will watch this.

I don't think you/we can necessarily assume it's only NU fans who are doing this.

Next year our "home" games are Michigan, Minny, Oregon, Purdue, UCLA. If I'm an Oregon fan, it actually makes very good sense for me to buy season tickets and sell the others - will probably be able to make th money back (or close to it, even if not at a profit since that's not the main goal).

Frankly, this is why Ticketmaster implemented "dynamic pricing" for some of their shows, where prices can fluctuate in real time. TM publicly argues its their way of deterring brokers, without acknowledging how much more they are making in the process.

I will say this: I don't begrudge Northwestern offering of premium seating, boxes, etc., to meet demand. But I also think Marks and Jackson both made some disingenuous remarks about what they are "learning." Yes you need to offer different options and experiences...but I'm personally never going to be earning "premium box seat" money. When I last checked in August, the seats that were still unsold in the stadium were the "premium" South End Zone seats. The first section to sell out was the North End Zone - the one for us peasants. What does that teach us/them?

I, quite literally, represent the fan who loves to go to games, but realize the reality that I might just get priced out...and if NU can't sell out Ryan Field 5-7 years after opening it and the novelty/curiosity wears off...it's not like I'd be coming back; or I'll just go to the occasional game when I can buy $5 tickets off the secondary market...if NU wants to just make this a transactional relationship, so be it.

But if you're an Oregon fan you won't be able to buy ST's next year. There was no real general public ST sale this year with the possible exception of a handful of south end zone seats. I would expect the same will hold true for next year.

I will say it, don’t buy the effing tickets if this is the way you operate. You suck! .

Got to thinking after seeing how many Indiana fans were in the stands Saturday that many NU ticket holders view their tickets as a form of arbitrage. Perhaps see a game or two or give them to a friend or client, but wait for the games with the big/motivated fan bases such as OSU, Michigan and this year Indiana, to resell to help cover the cost. Not really that invested in the team.

NU can't even fill up a 12k stadium that is sold out in advance. Perfect Fall day, interesting game and there were more red shirts than purple.

Go Cats but this could be a major thing in Florida in a day or two

Got an old friend in Tampa suburb. Was told by her hotels that people are fleeing to are gouging the evacuees. That is sad and evil incarnate
Think you friend in hotel business has a masters in self preservation. I have a place in the Florida panhandle, did not raise the price a dime when the demand soared because if the lack of availability.

Northwestern could be 'a perfect match' for 2025 forward Tre Singleton

Hunger is right now the back-up Center, based on his minutes in the Europe trip. He has 3 more years of eligibility and I suspect he will start at the 5 next year. Collins will then look for a back-up 5 through the portal if he can't recruit someone out of high school this year.

I was not impressed by the few minutes Fitzmorris got in Europe. He will play only through foul trouble to Matt and Luke or in case of injuries.

Good point about Hunger having 3 years.
Fitzmorris is a bit of statue compared to Nicholson.
But Hunger, who is probably 6'9 1/2" is something of a tweener between a 4 and a 5, even at 250 lbs.
He has every right to improve his 3 point shooting - and Collins prefers that type of post player.

TRE SINGLETON COMMITS TO NU!

May I suggest a different jersey number?

This was over on Reddit...

"UVa fan here. Here’s what I heard regarding Singletons recruiting:
-academics was a big priority -immediate playing time was the other big priority -Purdue was talking redshirt -Louisville put full court press on him at his visit. Tried to get him to verbally accept and cancel rest of his visits. Didn’t work and they were pretty much out after that. Word was he didn’t gel with their staff -Staying close to home was somewhat of a priority -I didn’t hear much related to crazy NIL ask. -It came down to Virginia and Northwestern. Northwestern has a very obvious path to immediate playing time and Virginia doesn’t (Power and Saunders both block him). That was the deciding factor"

could be excuses from the Virginia fan, but I want to believe Singleton factored academics in as well - and this makes sense.
UVA's academics are exceptionally strong snd would not be a deciding factor.

TRE SINGLETON COMMITS TO NU!

In history?

No.

Seems like Law, Kopp, and Nance were more highly rated during the CCC era.

Evan Eschmeyer was a top 50 recruit per Athlon and our highest recruit post Foster. (Anything beforehand I have a hard time assessing due to lack of recruiting rankings and predating my arrival to NU, so maybe Billy McKinney or other graybeard is in the picture but I wouldn’t know).

If we are counting transfers, we also landed McDonald’s All Americans Michael Thompson from Duke (who was a bust) and Walker Lambiotte from NC State (who was the real deal as ACC Freshman of the Year and All B1G 1st team, at least prior to his injury).
Yes in history of when rankings became prevalent. Check out 247. This doesn’t include transfers pre 2000. Singleton is higher than Nance, Law, Kopp etc. Doesn’t make him better, but that’s the way he cookie crumbles.
