Did I see that Caitlyn Clark was leaving the WNBA?

They don’t need a higher % of revenue, they need revenue to increase, which she single handedly does. All the players and media figures cranky about the increase in popularity over gatekeeping type politics are about to be shut up because she’s gonna get the paid over time.
Only 10% of revenue is put toward salary. They need both.

Could be worse? Tough times in Palo Alto.

To be fair, it was 100 degrees in Palo Alto on Saturday, and if any of you were at the game in 2019, it got extremely, uncomfortably hot in the stadium and everyone retreated to the shady concourse to get some relief.

I am well aware I am very likely in the minority of people that didn’t know this, but I didn’t realize the family Mac Uihlein came from. Holy crap.

Was watching a short doc about Super PACs when it showed his grandparents are some of the largest political donators in the country. Had no idea. Did more reading about him and his family after that.

This is nothing more than me admitting I had no clue about his familial background. This is NOT any sort of judgment on him or his family’s political ties/influence, so let’s not go there.

Announced attendance:
36k in a 50k stadium. Perhaps it looked better in the second quarter. 🤣

To me that sounds like some serious penalties are being considered.

PJ went nuts at the end of the game when his team tried on qb sneaks on two downs to score a TD. On the first try, it was questionable whether they did not make it. He went nuts. On review, they ruled against him. On the 2nd try, he clearly made it, but they ruled that he was short. PJ went ballistic. He was right. Review changed the call to a TD, The refs were afraid to make a call. I do not like PJ, but on both calls, every coach would and should have gone nuts. He acted correctly.

The rules were ignored on that TD sneak.
Yes it was pretty obvious that the QB scored a touchdown, based on where his helmet went (into the endzone by a couple feet)
However, the refs ruled him short because they couldn't see thru the 22 players piled up near the ball.

"There must be indisputable video evidence for an on-field call to be changed by the Instant Replay Official."

Replay had no such evidence. No camera could see the ball relative to the goal line. The replay officials merely ASSUMED the ball had crossed the goalline and reversed the call.

Thats not what the rules say. Call should have stood.

Random Thoughts

I was in Evanston for a letterman's golf outing. Uber came through with a ticket, allowing me to see the lakeside stadium. The south plaza had a variety of concessions and provided a good location
to meet friends.
The seats in the stadium are mostly in the end zones . We were seated in the North Stands , next to a capacity enthusiastic student section. The NU BB team showed up , sans Nicholson and Uber said Barnhizer was still in a boot.
I learned that it is very difficult to watch a FB game from this viewpoint. It is difficult to see whether a run was 1, 3 or 5 yards. I then realized that 25-30% of the seats in the future Ryan Field will be end zone seats and could not justify seat licenses.

From a performance point of view, I believe the final score was very flattering for NU. I did not check the stats but IU probably probably had 400-500 yards of " O". They attacked the center of the field with crossing patterns, an area that NU avoids as if it was a mine field. NU had one crossing pattern to a TE that led to a TD and a seam route to Henning. NU continues to throw long outs for short gains, with many throws bouncing short in the strong wind.
The "new offense" lacks the creativity that an outmanned unit needs to have. I was hoping to see effective RPOs or options employing Himon ala the old Colter/Mark days

NU's administration has to accept the changing dynamics of B1G athletics or be the laughing stock of collegiate athletics. I hope Schill watched theVanderbilt/Alabama game to see the value of success on the athletic field. I bet Vanderbilt will see a spike in applications

It was great to see the beautiful North Shore suburbs on a sunny Fall weekend

It’s pathetic and makes me question if our fan base and the school itself are really worthy of or can sustain a modern Big Ten program.

Year yes, we do have thousands of very loyal fans including the folks here, but the turnout this year is very very discouraging and this is an era of an arms race toward the Big Time in the Big Ten and I’m not sure we have the fan base to make it credible
I think it may be time for Northwestern to drop out of the new B1G. Maybe go to the ACC leftovers once that league implodes in a couple years?

Been a ST since 1996 and sit midfield. We have had as many as 21 seats and now down to 10, only 1 a NU alum. We passed on tix this year and likely next because of ticket cost and contribution threshold. Our priority points have been recalculated a couple of times and either lost points or deem them meaningless. I am confident that once the stadium is built and is open to ticket purchase. We will be priced out either by cost of the ticket, corporate money, seat license or by contribution requirements. Now I realize we may be able to get to our price point. But realistically after being midfield would you settle for a high corner.
People said this about basketball and I still think it is a reasonable deal today.

I want a better experience and I am a willing to pay for it. A luxury car versus a compact. A good bottle of wine versus a cheap bottle. I think there are a ton of people like me. the fact that I am a ST to be mutually beneficial to me and the program. I want perks that Nancy Nebby fan can’t get by purchasing from the ticket exchange or some turn coat ST fan that bails when we suck. I want opposing fans to be forced to pay more for there privilege of attending in OUR stadium. Both tickets and game day concessions ( we could even thus revenue, through the “required donation”. ) as been pointed out by some, it is cheaper for an Indiana fan to attend the game than a ST. That’s not right and it’s a sure way to lose your ST base. I hope Jackson sees this and spends the money to bring in new talent and technology. Mark give me a call, I’ll work for mileage and all access.
