Brendan Sullivan CHOKE JOB at the Music City Bowl

Fitz and NU will almost certainly settle for some compromised amount. He certainly wasn’t wrongfully terminated.
You need to read Fitzgerald's employment contract. Its out there (or was).
NU was required by written contract to notify Fitzgerald of any issues within the football program and give him 2 weeks to rectify the problem before taking any other actions.
They didn't do that, clearly, so they're in breach of the contract unless they can prove he was directing the locker room shenanigans and understood the impact it had on a handful of players. (at least to me, a logical person)

Notes from my first trip to the "new" WRA

I go to about a dozen games a year. Most compliments of my buddy Uber and his ticket brokerage conglomerate for unused tickets. On Sunday, I was in Ubers own seat and after I returned home discovered I didn’t have my wallet. I cancelled my credit/debit cards and began the journey of tracing my steps.

There were about 4 potential numbers to call. As you can imagine, getting anyone to pick up the phone on a holiday week wasn’t easy. However, the old standby NU Police are 24 x 7 and they were great. Navigating me to the WR lost and found and eventually following up with them 2 days later ( after they opened) and calling me on NYE that they did in fact find the wallet.

WR opened for a Women’s game yesterday and they told me to get there before it ended. The student ticket taker knew I was going to be there and after asking me my name handed me my wallet in 30 seconds. Apparently, there was another sap who also lost his wallet. I have no idea who turned in the wallet to lost and found, fan, security, custodian, but it was returned and all $228 in it was still there. Very thankful for all the NU personnel involved. There are good people associated with this University.

Torvik's/Smelly's Big Ten predictions

I've made a spreadsheet with all of the games in the Big Ten coming up and Torvik's predictions. Since someone has to get a win and someone has to get a loss, rather than doing the statistically appropriate thing and giving a team 0.74 of a win if they have a 74% chance of winning, I just gave the win the to the team that was over 50% and the loss to the one that was under, just to get a taste of where everyone stands, how hard their schedules are, etc. (Note: When it was exactly 50%, I gave the win to the home team).

Here's how it looks as of today:
Michigan (18-2, 26-5)
UCLA (16-4, 25-6)
Illinois (15-5, 23-8)
Oregon (14-6, 25-6)
Maryland (14-6, 24-7)
Michigan State (13-7, 22-9)
Purdue (12-8, 20-11)
Iowa (12-8, 21-10)
Wisconsin (12-8, 22-9)
Northwestern (11-9, 20-11)
Nebraska (9-11, 19-12)
Penn Stata (9-11, 19-12)
Ohio State (8-12, 16-15)
Indiana (7-13, 16-15)
USC (5-15, 13-18)
Rutgers (3-17, 10-21)
Washington (1-19, 10-21)
Minnesota (1-19, 9-22)

Obviously there is a long way to go and these numbers will change as more games are played, but it was a fun little project for me.

Gronowski

Officially in the portal. Interesting thing, if you watched the Syracuse - WSU game their backup QB Zevi Eckhaus played awesome. SDSU HC is hired at WSU. Eckhaus enters portal the day after the game. He would’ve been the starter. I suspect Gronowski may head to WSU unless he gets mad money to go somewhere else?

He is still signed up to play in the East West Shrine Bowl game and may still go pro. Keeping his options open.

Duke gets #1 QB in Portal

Some school is allegedly offering $6M to Ewers to transfer for his final college season.

It he’s projected to be a first round draft pick then he should go pro.

But if he may get drafted in the second round or lower this year… then this $6M college seaaon offer might be a better deal.

Bowl games

Penn State offense could be so much better. Play calling the two possessions after their first two scores was just silly. Numerous o-line penalties. #15 overrated - doesn't move much in the pocket and can't throw on the run. Left a lot of yards on the field mostly over-throwing deep routes. This was their last win.
Penn State’s defense is ELITE. Penn State’s offense is… fine. In the context of playoff teams it’s not even good, much less elite. Two great RBs though.
