FB RECRUITING NU a priority for 3-star 2025 big athlete Bradley Gompers

NU isn't quite sure what position Bradley Gompers would play for the Wildcats. They just know they want him.

FB RECRUITING Drew Smith

Just saw that former NU LB Andrew Smith is a member of our recruiting staff. Nice to see Drew back in Evanston. Smith was a Cincy to NU flip back in the day.

"WildcatReport.com reports OLB Andrew Smith has officially committed to Northwestern after decommitting from Cincinnati. Smith, a 6-2, 200 lbs LB from Cincinnati (Corelain), OH just learned he was academically accepted after his latest round of test scores came in. According to the report, Smith, the 16th commitment of the 2011 class had committed to Cincinnati after learning his English section of the ACT was not up to par. Smith had wanted to go to NU all along and now gets his wish over the likes of Cincinnati, Minnesota, and Stanford".

Organizational Change Management "Gragg situation"

First off I am ecstatic that NU finally addressed the elephant in the room. On further review, NU needs to ensure the new AD is set up for success (shocking I know). So new person is brought in, old AD is still "there", (in some bs role) and the folks he hired are still there for all intensive purposes. You can have a weird dynamic in the folks that reported to old guy and new AD. Please note I have not heard much praise about Gragg's hires, so who knows if there will be a purge or just leave on their own. It will be interesting how NU walks this tightrope and builds the department back to respectability.

Side note, how awkward is it to have your old AD basically demoted and and still hanging around? I get the reasoning, but still can lead to unintended consequences.

Simmons makes the most of midweek official visit to Northwestern

@lou v talked to Michigan DT prospect Derrick Simmons about his recruitment, his untraditional visit style to see schools in June, and Northwestern.

FB RECRUITING 2026 DT King Liggins 'liked everything' about Northwestern visit

Northwestern hosted 2026 three-star DT King Liggins from Chicago (Ill.) Brother Rice at their April 20 spring practice. I talked to Liggins about his visit, nearby family ties and his recruitment.

FB RECRUITING Northwestern family ties run deep for four-star 2026 TE Mack Sutter

@lou v talked to four-star 2026 TE Mack Sutter, whose father, uncle and cousin played at NU, about finally getting an offer from the Wildcats and his relationship with the program under a new staff.

HOOPS RECRUITING Wanna feel old?

2026 point guard Chris Kirkpatrick from New Trier is visiting NU to watch practice this weekend. Yep, he's the son of former NU guard Kip Kirkpatrick.

Chris is a 6-2 point guard. Just a sophomore, he's got an offer from Tavaras Hardy and Loyola Maryland. He already knows just about all there is to know about the NU basketball program.
