HOOPS RECRUITING Tyler Kropp comes 'full circle' with Northwestern commitment

An interesting story here from @mshelton33 on 2025 commit Tyler Kropp, whose path to NU stretches from his sister's first campus visit many years ago to a U17 Basketball World Cup appearance with Argentina.

WLP Interview with Mark Jackson

Hey Gang,

We had a chance this week to talk with Northwestern Athletic Director Mark Jackson about his first 3 months on the job at NU, what the next year is going to look like in the NIL space, what he's learned from Pete Carroll/Bill Belichick/Kelly Amonte-Hiller, and many other topics!

OT: Athletic Article on Wisconsin Portal Losses

The article struck me relative to its insight into why players are leaving vs the total blackout concerning NU's players. While I recognize this article resulted from a reporter's active research, IMO it also reflects a program culture that doesn't shy away from interaction with the press. Compare this to NU where in both the Fitzgerald and Braun era there is almost no conversation with the press (I feel for the Rival's staff.) and even our best inside commenters here typically don't know or refuse to provide insight for some reason they won't offer.

Gunnar Maldonado (2023 thread)

Former NU Wildcat is having a big game tonight vs. OU. 2 picks, including an 80-yard pick 6 that got Arizona back into the game after OU had reeled off 24 straight points.

Maldonado is from the Phoenix area, and after a year at NU, decided to return home. He has become a good player for the PAC 12 Wildcats.

Great to see him playing well. Shows we know how to recruit!

2025 Schedule

I read a story a bit ago that Wake Forest backed out of their game at Ole Miss next year. With very limited P4 options available, it has lleft Ole Miss in a bad spot. Reminds me of a certain Vandy/Franklin situation many years back, but I digress…

I was surprised to see that we officially only have one OOC game on the books for next year - at Tulane to open to season. Thats surprising considering how far out football schedules are planned. So, two questions:

1) Does anyone have any insight or heard any rumors about who are other two opponents will be? My assumption is a directional Illinois school and a MAC school, but kinda odd nothing has been announced yet.

2) I know an Ole Miss/NU pairing makes pretty much no sense and it would totally shock me if that happened…but why not? That team is a juggernaut and we’d very likely get beat handily (this is admittedly a valid answer to the “why not?” question), but with them having limited P4 options, I wonder if it would even be considered/entertained.
