A bit surprised to see the Cats that high, but it makes sense that Braun was moving to more of his type of O.

Anyone have the data for the previous season or 2?

Iowa should move up the chart as their new scheme is akin to the Shanahan based Packers O.

FB RECRUITING Northwestern felt like home for DT Tanner Jumpp

I talked to DT Tanner Jumpp about his decision to commit to Northwestern, his training goals and his official visit last weekend.

Don't look now, but ...

Maybe it's not a big deal to many, but ex-Cat Scott Harrington had a really good first round today in the Korn Ferry Tour in Springfield IL. Eight under par, tied for 2nd.

If it's not inappropriate to ask about here -- does anyone know how Scott's wife is doing? Some years ago she was a serious cancer patient, and I've wondered about outcomes of the treatment she received. I'm rooting for them both. Scott's scuffled quite a bit on the course -- went up to the PGA Tour and is back in Korn Ferry. He deserves some good fortune.

FB RECRUITING Northwestern hosts 2025 WR JonAnthony Hall for a 'great' official visit

Northwestern hosted JonAnthony Hall for his first trip up to Evanston. Hall's recruitment is stacked with Big Ten offers, I talked to him about NU getting the chance to set the bar on the OV last weekend.

FB RECRUITING Simmons makes the most of midweek official visit to Northwestern

@lou v talked to Michigan DT prospect Derrick Simmons about his recruitment, his untraditional visit style to see schools in June, and Northwestern.

What we know about next year's non-conference schedule

I've started seeing announcement of non-conference games for next season. So far I think this is all we know about next year's non-conference slate:

DePaul (12/21/24 @ WRA)
Arizona State (@ United Center)
@ Dayton

That leaves a lot of games left to figure out. The Gavitt Games series is over. I assume we'll be in a non-conference tournament. Usually those are announced pretty far in advance, but I don't recall anything for NU and I'm not seeing anything online either. Hopefully there will be a couple more power conference opponents. I assume the rest will be the usually parade of sub-200 teams. Next season we should work on blowing those teams out.

UPDATE (7/22):
I'm starting to see teams release their non-conference schedules so here's what we know now:

Lehigh (11/4)
Montana State (11/19)
@ Dayton
Arizona Tip-off @ Tempe, AZ (Play two of Butler/Mississippi State/UNLV)
Georgia Tech (12/15 @ MKE) - This hasn't been officially announced, but Coach James mentioned it in an interview so it seems legit, albeit weird.
DePaul (12/21)
Arizona State (@ United Center) - Moved to 2025

Assuming there will be eleven non-conference games, that's six seven down, five four to go.

The good news and bad news

Bad news: recruiting lately looks like a higher level MAC or even FCS program.

Good news: the teams at the FCS level coached by Braun and Lujan would probably have handily defeated NU in 2021, 2022, and even 2023.

So if we get MAC/FCS recruits who play like SDSU and NDSU then we may finish in the middle third of the newly expanded Big Ten.

Given the NIL changes and AD/presidential leadership along with the Fitz transition, I don't think we could be surprised to see recruiting fall to this level. We'll see if the results on the field look better than the appearance on paper.
