How about rebuilding the new Ryan Field on the Lakefill?

With all the excitement around football games on campus -- on the lakefill, no less -- it would be great for Northwestern to adjust its rebuilding plans for the new stadium. The campus and downtown Evanston have plenty of parking on weekends and during the summer for games and concerts, as opposed to the current Ryan Field location. Plus, it would put an end to the ongoing conflict with neighborhoods surrounding Ryan Field. Imagine how downtown Evanston restaurants and bars would benefit from all the pre- and post-game visitors. Plus, the current Ryan Field location could be repurposed into practice and competition fields for other non-revenue sports.

Someone in NU Sports Admin is Reading this Board?

Just saw this statement in today's article about the Temporary Stadium:

"There will be beer gardens and television screens, so that fans and students who don’t have tickets will still want to come and watch the game just to be part of the event."

Maybe they haven't gone all the way yet with my suggestion to set up a huge tailgate with in game screened games on Deering Meadow, but doing so on the Lakefront is a good start.

Football Tix - New information

I haven’t seen anyone post so I thought I’d share.

First I will share that my new tix rep did not seem excited on the call this week. I was shocked. He said he came to the job last year because he was told the stadium was supposed to start last year and be complete for fall 2025 now it’s 2026. He had experience in LA with the Chargers and new stadium with “contributions.”

2. Tix at Wrigley will be sold by the cubs directly. Season tix holders will have first access but you will be able to buy actual seats not just request a section. This is a change from previous years.

3. The Ryans are driving the bus for how tix will be priced in the new stadium. I asked my rep to repeat himself twice.

The Ryan’s donated 700m to the new stadium and the athletic department will work with them to decide on tix price. Contribution costs etc.

I was shocked but maybe we shouldn’t be. The Ryan’s run Northwestern.

FOOTBALL New temporary stadium promises 'great experience on the lakefront'

I talked to Jesse Marks of the NU Athletic Department to get an in-depth look at NU's new temporary lakefront stadium.

One More Transfer?

I know Lou V's last post about this suggested that we may done with the transfer portal, but it feels like we need another contributor (particularly a guard or wing) to round out the roster and solidify our depth. It'd be surprising and disappointing if we're really not pursuing another transfer, but I haven't seen us connected to anybody recently. Any chatter out there about a final transfer candidate?

Lawsuits and Directly Salaried Players

I haven’t followed this lawsuit closely, but it sure looks like it’s about to be another very large and fundamental tap change to the current order of affairs in college football
