Give Riley Leonard and Duke credit

Leonard consistently beat the Cats with his legs and arm. He made few mistakes, and even though the coaches called a number of plays that gave players the chance to stop him, he beat the players with the chance to stop him consistently. He is a player the likes of which NU may not see again this year.

I saw NU as a 4 to 6 win team this year, and this game did not change that.

As a side note, Braun's defensive calls gave players a chance. They were overmatched and did not cash opportunities. I really can't blame the coach

Recruit Roundup: Grove and Hersey score 60+ in Week 4 win

Wide receiver Carson Grove and Hersey lit up the scoreboard, running back Dashun Reeder and Christ Church Episcopal started their title defense in earnest and the Class of 2024 is in the hearts of their senior campaigns. Check out how they all did in this week's recruit roundup.

Chargers / Titans game

Our 2 alum stars tackles Slater and Skoronski are on opposite sides in this game. Unfortunately Peter is out for this game. Slater is back after a serious bicep injury last year. He is struggling a little against the Titans line having a holding call. Good game so far. Wish we had someone like the Titans punter for the Cats. The Titans punter boomed a 63 yd punt from the back of the end zone earlier in the game.

Skoronski, who is ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers recently had an appendectomy, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
With the nature of Skoronski's illness now known, the rookie offensive lineman out of Northwestern could be in danger of missing time beyond Week 2, given that appendectomies typically require a multi-week recovery period. Xavier Newman is expected to step in as the Titans' starting left guard in place of Skoronski on Sunday.

Justin Fields

..is not an NFL QB. Yes, he’s blessed with the physical tools, but is not a professional quarterback. Lacks the vision, no check down ability, no pocket presence. Northwestern almost beat him in the Bigten championship game for god sake. I’d rather have Jake Sterney at Loyola Academy starting for me. Bears never gonna win with this guy.

Who cares

Looks like not many folks care anymore. The traffic and activity here on a game day has to be a low point. Even in those crappy losses over the last four seasons, this website was on fire - yelling, crying, defending, arguing, etc.

Now? Not much. Seems like everybody checked out except the more hardcore visitors. Even the rock traffic, low as it is, appears down - suspect subscriptions must be too.

So cap and Lou, unless you get people hitting the bball board, ad revenue isn’t going to support any paid positions. I have an idea that would drive traffic up and maybe keep your lives somewhat sane: instead of paid bball, paid rant board. Bet your subscriptions would increase as would your traffic/ad revenue. And being a paywall, you only get vested players and we have some thick skin - you can largely let us be. Heck, ppd and I roll in dirt around here without crying much all the time.

We are in a crazy time and so much crazy non sports going on. People want to talk about it. I haven’t found a place with a mix of smart, nutty, informed and otherwise to banter and discuss and I have looked. I bet even a paid version would draw visit and posting numbers to rival some of the rivals paid fb and bb pages of the major teams.

Just saying it would suck to see you guys follow the footsteps of coach Roy.

Schill , Gragg , and posters who never went through the dark ages get ready to live it for yourself

Oh you ...poor sons of a bitches you've done more damage than you know. Should have given Fitz the right to fix the ship. After all he has done for NU he gets tossed before the jury comes in? I agree with Barnett. A set back of a decade and perhaps we can never recover. Should have handled it like Ioa did with Ferentz.

Game thread for Northwestern @ No. 21 Duke

Northwestern (1-1) hits the road to play No. 21 Duke (2-0) at 2:30 p.m. CT in Durham, N.C. The game will air on the ACC Network.

Duke leads the all-time series 12-10, and has won the last four games in the series. While the Blue Devils have had the advantage, their margins have been slim. Their last two wins over the Wildcats came by seven and eight points respectively.

Trib Garbage - Slow News Day?

Trib article/headlne in my inbox:

Northwestern welcomes freshmen to campus after spending summer dealing with athletics program hazing scandal

(from the sports desk)

The writer basically used the zero-news (and less than zero SPORTS news) event of freshmen arriving to campus as a platform to recap NU's athletic issues over the past couple of months (complete with links to all stories).

I'm just baffled how this made it past an employed editor with any sense for news. Fluff piece of "Little Joey got dropped off at Northwestern today to start college...the Big Ten school embroiled in athletic controversy."

I couldn't shake my head harder in total disgust.
