Eastern Illinois is now 1-9 on the season. This is Cushing’s third year as head coach and, right now, his record is 3-25. He’s won one game each season (1-11, 1-5, 1-9). That’s not good.
He signed a five-year contract in 2018 and I don’t know if EIU is the type of program to fire coaches and eat contracts, but they’ve gotta be considering sacking him. The previous guy went 27-30 over five years and was let go.
It’s been a rough ride in Charleston for him and a lot of guys with NU ties (Chris Bowers, Mark Philmore, Neal Renna, Chris Batti, John Kuceyeski).
