Before tonight's game NU was tied for 18th in the country in assists at 18.6/game.

With 30 assists tonight the per game average jumped to 19.58 which is 8th in the country and second in the Big Ten behind MSU and Darnel Valentine the human assist machine.

NU is also 22nd best in the country at not turning the ball over. Just over 10 turnovers a game.

Also before tonight's game NU's assist to turnover ratio was fifth best in the country. Now NU looks to be tied with North Carolina for second best ratio in the country behind MSU and Darnel Valentine.

Fools gold. The competition has been pretty weak for the most part. Last night, SH was absolutely pathetic on defense. Their offense was give it to #1 and let him jack up 3's. The older Falzon looked pretty decent but he was lost on that team. So take all the stats with a major grain of salt. Let's see how the Big 10 season progresses.

The point is that NU has excellent guard play and that won't change in conference.

I agree the guard play has been very good. I just wouldn't get too excited over the assist/TO ratio ranking nationally......

The SH D was pretty porous. Wide open 3s and easy paths to the basket all night long and they give up the most points in their conference.

That said, 30 assists. Is that close to a record for us?
