Today's Bowl games more exciting and fun to watch than CFP games so far. Toledo QB real deal. KSU. sQB not too shabby either.
The bowl games with G5 teams are good. The P4 teams in bowls don’t care.Today's Bowl games more exciting and fun to watch than CFP games so far. Toledo QB real deal. KSU. sQB not too shabby either.
Would prefer a 10 minute extra quarter of regular football.Mrs P is a Toledo grad so I'm happy for them, but...overtime is stupid. It's the motor city pizza quicklane above all else bowl. Just end in a tie.
Not me bub. I got Oklahoma-Navy on the big screen and Bloomberg on the small screen (my buddy @SimpsonElmwood knows: this is how ballers roll in 2024+).Sadly for me personally, bowl season has lost all its allure. I used to be glued to the TV for all bowl games big and small, but between so many key players entering the Portal (or sitting out a bowl game for the draft) to the point where you really can't be sure what a team looks like heading into a bowl game, to the very bright spotlight on the playoff, my emotional detachment has come equally fast and unexpectedly.
Of course I will always be tuned in whenever and wherever NU plays, but I'm admittedly pretty frustrated by where the sport finds itself right now.

It would be better for fans and teams, but maybe not for ambitious players, so we'll see if it happens. I expect the powers that be will certainly try after the last two years of negative results.... once the transfer portal window is pushed back, which is almost certain to happen.
Wazzou came out gunning against Syracuse despite being down a head coach and like 20 players. Their backup QB for the departed #1 portal QB Mateer was pretty amazing for the most part. But McCord and the Cuse O won the day putting up 52 while McCord became the all time ACC passing leader. In the bowl games it seems like the underdog that comes in with a chip on their shoulder is winning the games.
Color guy made that specific comment during the broadcast.Nebraska won today, so I guess they'll be in the top 20 preseason next year if this century's history is any guide.
And Cam Ward will sit the second half. What a world.Miami vs Iowa State has been entertaining so far.
Why?And Cam Ward will sit the second half. What a world.
Agree. If I were an NFL GM, this would be a huge red flag. I am also surprised Miami’s coach let him do that. Either you are ready to play the whole game or you sit out. I really dislike a lot of what is happening in college football. Why?
Edit: oh it looks like he was just going for the season passing TD record. The game is 38-35 going into 4th quarter and he’s not going to play? You might say, well he easily could have sat out since he’s going to the draft. That would’ve made more sense. This shows that he was willing to risk injury to get a personal record but wouldn’t just finish out a shootout-looking exciting game for his team.
And Miami just lost 42-41. One would think the Heisman candidate WB would’ve helped - perhaps a TD on their last scoring drive instead of a FG which would’ve been the difference. I get it’s a “meaningless” bowl but to sit halfway through seems worse than not playing at all both from a sportsmanship/team player standpoint but because if he opted out totally, then the backup QB would’ve gotten more practice reps.Agree. I understand that but I agree that letting him play for just one half in pursuit of a personal goal came at the expense of what is best for the team. He doesn't play the whole game because he is afraid of injury but not afraid enough of injury to play the first half in order to pursue a personal goal. He subjugated the best interests of the team in favor of his personal goals and the head coach let him do it. Not cool. Either commit to playing the whole game or let your backup get all the practice reps and prepare to play and win the game. It's a shame because he looked great in the first half. Much better than I have ever seen him play. You’re off base here. The plan was for Ward to play just the first half. The arrangements were made previously. The vast majority of players in Cam’s exact situation wouldn’t have played at all. His teammate (and #1 WR) didn’t suit up in order to preserve his health.
I wouldn't risk an 8 figure contract for the pop tarts bowlYou’re off base here. The plan was for Ward to play just the first half. The arrangements were made previously.
