Bowl games

He's looked like crap since. His interception was exactly the kind of play that had many of us not that upset to see him go. Iowa is totally one dimensional with him at QB.
However, that dimension is significantly better than the dimension of NU's offense last year.

His scramble near the goal line late in the first half was amazing.

Iowa can have him. I'm not interested in a QB who can only run.

Then he shouldn’t have bailed when the HC didn’t guarantee him the starter role. Doubt Stone was guaranteed a starters role, but he’s coming in.

Hoping for Mich to choke this game away…
I dunno, I have no love for Mich but the SEC talk this playoff season has been so tiresome especially 3 loss Bama being “playoff worthy.” If they lose to a 7-5 unranked it certainly will not look good for Bama and the SEC (Never mind that Mich beat OSU and they are still the defending national champs even though they’ve taken a big step back).

Michigan definitely peaked late in the season, and got better in their bye week between Indiana and NU.

I’m shocked — shocked — that an Alabama team playing all its starters in an effective home game just can’t get find the energy to come out strong.

(Just kidding. Bama is getting beaten up.)

Questionable roughing call on Mich to extend Bama scoring drive and out then in FG range. Officiating crew is Big XII but hopefully will be impartial and not affect the last few minutes of this game. Would be best for Mich to grind it out and not give the ball back.

Oops Michigan probably gonna lose this game as they let too much time and didn’t try enough to get a first down on their last drive. There was too much time left to just RUTM 3 times. Should have done a sweep or screen pass or something .

Impressive defensive stand after getting gashed down the field. Apparently a number of Mich defensive stars out too.

Deboer should’ve stayed at Washington and kept building. I think Saban anticipated that Bama would not be as dominant with NIL and revenue sharing allowing other programs to buy talent.

Deboer will be on the hotseat if this keeps up. Bama was a double digit favorite against a depleted Michigan team. Then Michigan's only throwing quarterback got hurt and still Alabama could not pull it out. Love it. Congrats, Sherron Moore. What a finish by the Wolverines this year AGAINST ALL ODDS. Does not make our blowout loss to them look so bad either.

Having watched many games in a row in bowl season I continue to register my irritation with the lax forward progress rules. They just let the plays go on forever and obviously if you allow 3 extra seconds for multiple OL to get behind the ball carrier, they’re going to push forward several yards. It’s super annoying to watch for me. For me if the ref counts one one thousand- two after forward progress is stopped, they need to blow it dead.

Penn State offense could be so much better. Play calling the two possessions after their first two scores was just silly. Numerous o-line penalties. #15 overrated - doesn't move much in the pocket and can't throw on the run. Left a lot of yards on the field mostly over-throwing deep routes. This was their last win.

Penn State’s defense is ELITE. Penn State’s offense is… fine. In the context of playoff teams it’s not even good, much less elite. Two great RBs though.

I’m not sure how impressed I was by his hands and ball skills, but he is a physical specimen.

Hard to separate the ball skills from the middle throws tbh
I watched several PSU games this year and he sttod out on offense as their best player each time. He lines up all over the place and makes plays. Came in as an under recuited 3* and goes out an All American. Much as I detest PSU the man can sure play.

From watching one ASU game today and one BSU game yesterday I might say that Skatteboo (sp?) is in fact the best all around back. Throwing a 40 yard TD followed immediately by catching like a 50 yard pass.

Turning out to be a heck of a game. Skattebo is having a day.

Just awful not to call targeting - even if it wasn’t primary intent, he was leading with the helmet and obviously gave the WR a concussion.
All three of my daughters graduated from Arizona State so I'm rooting for them and that call was totally wrong it was clearly targeting and could have changed the game outcome. But of course there's so many plays in a game that could have changed the outcome

Refs determined the outcome.
Happens a lot.

To determine targeting there usually are about half a dozen rules the announcers need to recite. Most times they don't get them right. So I look at targeting this way - don't get excited until the ref makes a call which usually is different than what everyone in the stadium thinks. Kind of like pass interference.

I couldn't decide whom to root for. I hate the SEC arrogance but that 34 year old coach for ASU is hard to like. Not as bad as Beamer last night, but still obnoxious. In the end I pulled for ASU so blame their lost on me. I have a very high batting average rooting for losers.

Daughter graduated from Texas. Only SEC team I root for.

My niece and her fiance graduated from ASU, so I pull for the Sun Devils. The no-call on targeting was astonishing but the ASU DC's call on the Long Horns 4th & 13 was a travesty. That was the game, IMO. Also, if you look up "Baller" in the dictionary you'll see a picture of Skattebo. That youngster is a one man wrecking crew.

Physically he’s a classic matchup nightmare at TE - nightmare might be understating it, he’s a recurring, violent, lucid night terror at 6-6, 260 with speed - I was just only semi impressed with his hands yesterday, but I admit I haven’t watched Penn State closely all year beyond watching enough to know that defensive front is, once again, no joking matter whatsoever, the two RBs are really explosive and incredible, and the rest of the offense is pretty mid.

While Finebaum did sort of a mea culpa, it was absolutely disgusting (even taking account that he works for the SEC network) how lopsided his "analysis" has been the past couple of weeks.

Blah, blah, blah - who did Indiana play/where are their good/great wins, but nothing stated about Texas which was in the same boat.

Repeating ad nauseum about dOSU spending $20 mil on NIL, but again, silence on Texas (and other schools which spent more); nevermind all those years when the SEC was paying players under the table.

Ironically, UT is the last hope for the SEC and many SEC fans earlier in the season were saying that Texas was not yet a real SEC program.

Let’s say you had a crazy rich uncle, and he decided that he wanted to try self-preservation through cryotherapy, and he willfully froze himself 50 years ago!

Let’s further say that he was a big college football fan.

Let’s say funding ran out today, and you had to thaw him and see if he survived, and it worked!

“Uncle Warbucks, you’re alive!”
“What’s the date?! How was the Rose Bowl?”
“January 2! Rose Bowl was a blowout. OSU over Oregon.”
“Oregon?!?!? Oregon?!! Not USC or UCLA or Washington or Cal for chrissakes. OREGON?!”

“But there’s more uncle. We’ve got a COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF, and FOUR TEAMS ARE LEFT.”

“A playoff! Blasphemy! Who’s are the FINAL FOUR?!”

“Ohio State, Texas, Notre Dame, Penn State.

“Some things never change, I guess.”
