Braun on the tube

The theory is that Ryan/Jackson will force out Braun after 2025 unless we have a strong year. I’m not sure I buy it.
Yes, but...who do they bring in??? Braun is a nice guy, but limited. Seems like Jackson is radio silence, so who knows......

Anyone we want. We are rich, in the B1G, will be moving into the most expensive stadium in CFB history, etc. But don’t quit on Braun. I’m still a believer.

Put the Kool aid down. The limitations associated with the NU job will not be of interest to many coaches, new stadium or not.

He looked and sounded like he was exhausted.

I thought the same thing. Premature balding and dead of winter pale doesn't help. He pretty much has exhausted the same coach speak approach. Would do well to open up a bit and show a little more personality.

Exhausted? Maybe he picked up a bug while out on the recruiting trail. There is literally no off-season for a P4 head coach. Not an easy position.

Couldn't agree more. Just stating how he appeared. Relative to what he said, I was trying to say that he is continuing to take the same approach to the media he has taken since his hire. He approaches his public appearances much like Fitz did. For me, that is boring. Couple that with having what appears to be one of the least informative approaches to the media in the Big Ten. With Fitz I gave up. With Braun it would be nice if he loosened up a little but I am not holding my breath. It is what it is.

Hit the nail right on the head. It’s like someone told him to morph into Fitz. At the beginning of his career he was less politician like. Needs to watch a Chris Collins press conference.

Pretty much just word salad, which is why usually don't watch coaches do media.

CC, in contrast, pretty much tells it like it is...

My brother has had extensive media training and done a lot of media himself. He tells me no matter the question, deliver your talking point. When they ask a second question, deliver it again. Your point is the only thing you want quoted. Boring but effective for the wider public that only picks up on snatches of things.

What was the talking point?

Man, if this thread is representative of our fan base, what a collection of whining negative Nellies. Y’all sound no different from Domers or other smug entitled fan bases that we look down on, without the history.

Sad Baby GIF

Of course our academic restrictions are going to take some coaches out of the mix, if Braun is let go following next season, but money talks and we can put up some big dollars that other state schools can’t do (outside of OSU, UM, Oregon and maybe Penn State).

“Can” and “will” are very different things.

How long have you been a Northwestern fan? What about this University makes you think that all of a sudden the school is going to put such a premium on football that they'd be willing to pay top of the market dollars to convince high priced coaching talent to ignore the limitations academics put on recruiting and to ignore the fact that we have such a small fan/alumni base that filling a 35,000 stadium with our own fans is a challenge from week to week? I don't think you've thought this out very well.

Yes. I would say we've always been a developmental coaching program also. The Notre Dame poaching began with Ara.

Coaches who want to coach at a school that is all about football and winning at all costs don’t come to NU. The values of the University are not compatible.
